About the Role:

JD Power is looking for a senior software engineer to join our Research & Insights engineering team. You will be a key member of a team delivering solutions that power the research and deliver the insights our customers need to make informed decisions.

In this role, you will:

• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to translate business problems into technical solutions
• Design and code software from business and technical specifications, while maintaining quality, security, and adherence to team standards
• Perform code reviews to ensure quality, proactively identify defects, and recommend improvements
• Investigate and resolve complex and potentially time-sensitive technical issues for supported applications
• Contribute to the creation of technical and end-user product documentation, and design artifacts
• Enforce engineering best practices and proactively identify security vulnerabilities
• Use AI to accelerate design, development, and documentation while ensuring quality through careful review of generated code and assets
• Mentor junior engineers on new technologies, processes, and industry domain knowledge

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• 6+ years of full-stack software development with both frontend and backend experience
• Strong proficiency in Angular, TypeScript, Node.js, Python, and REST API design
• Proficiency with relational and non-relational database design and development
• Experience working as a member of an Agile/Scrum team
• Experience with Git and Git-based CI/CD pipelines
• Experience writing incremental unit tests and applying coding best practices
• Ability to develop deep domain knowledge in industry-specific business rules and processes
• Proficient with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) and able to judge when to accept, edit, or reject generated output
• Skilled at providing effective context — codebase conventions, requirements, constraints — to produce production-quality results
• Experience using AI to accelerate test authoring, documentation, and routine refactoring
• Aware of AI tool limitations: hallucinated APIs, outdated patterns, security pitfalls in generated code, and the need for human verification before merge
• Self-directed and detail-oriented, able to take ownership of work from requirements through release
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills, comfortable working across technical and business stakeholders
• Supports the growth of other team members through peer reviews, pairing, and mentorship

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with market research data collection and processing (Unicom Intelligence preferred)

• Cloud platform experience (AWS preferred; Azure or GCP also valuable), including Lambda or equivalent serverless computing

• Hands-on experience with a modern cloud data platform - Snowflake, Databricks, etc.

• Familiarity with secure coding practices and common vulnerability classes (OWASP Top 10)

• Experience building software in Agentic fashion

Compensation and Benefits

This position has a starting salary range of $100,000 - $120,000 CAD per year. The range represents what we reasonably and in good faith expect to pay for the role at the time of posting. An employee’s pay within the range is determined by a number of factors, including relevant skills, education, qualifications, experience, performance, business or organizational needs, and geographic location.
