The Role
The successful Management Supervisor (MS) at BBDO New York is a senior account leader responsible for managing significant areas of client business and ensuring the development and execution of strategically strong, integrated marketing programs.
The MS develops a deep understanding of the client’s business, marketing objectives, competitive environment, and organizational priorities and uses this knowledge to provide informed counsel to clients and agency teams. They serve as a trusted day-to-day client partner, independently leading key workstreams while partnering closely with the Account Director on broader business and strategic priorities.
The Management Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating agency resources across disciplines, maintaining the quality and integrity of the agency’s work, and ensuring teams deliver against client expectations, timelines, scopes, and budgets. They are expected to anticipate challenges, identify opportunities, and bring solutions forward rather than simply manage the work in front of them.
The MS also plays an important role in developing junior account talent and creating strong collaboration across agency departments and partner agencies.
In sum, the standard of performance for the MS is excellence in client leadership, strategic contribution, integrated execution, financial management, and team leadership. The Management Supervisor reports to the Account Director.
Key Activities
● Independently lead significant client workstreams and day-to-day business operations.
● Develop a deep understanding of the client’s business, category, competitive challenges, marketing priorities, and broader business objectives.
● Lead the development and execution of complex, integrated marketing programs in partnership with internal and external teams.
● Build strong, trusted relationships with client stakeholders and provide proactive counsel on business and marketing challenges.
● Partner with Strategy and Creative to ensure work is strategically sound, creatively strong, and aligned with client objectives.
● Maintain oversight of the quality, timing, scope, and financial health of assigned business.
● Anticipate potential business, client, creative, timing, or resource challenges and proactively develop solutions.
● Identify opportunities to strengthen and grow existing client relationships.
● Lead and develop Account Supervisors, Account Executives, and junior account team members.
Responsibilities
Client & Business Leadership
● Serve as the primary day-to-day client lead across assigned areas of business.
● Develop a strong understanding of the client’s business, products and services, competitive environment, customers, and strategic priorities.
● Function as a key source of client and category knowledge for internal agency teams.
● Build trusted relationships across appropriate levels of client management.
● Understand the broader client business and connect individual assignments to larger marketing and business objectives.
● Anticipate client needs and proactively bring forward recommendations, solutions, and opportunities.
● Lead client meetings and presentations clearly, effectively, and confidently.
● Navigate challenging client conversations and know when to involve the Account Director or senior agency leadership.
Strategic & Creative Leadership
● Partner with Strategy to lead the marketing planning process and development of strategic recommendations.
● Lead account management across TV production, partnering closely with Creative, Production, Project Management, clients, and external partners throughout pre-production, shoots, post-production, and final delivery.
● Contribute meaningfully to creative briefs, marketing plans, strategic POVs, and other key client deliverables.
● Ensure client objectives and strategic direction are clearly understood across agency teams.
● Evaluate creative work, media plans, TV and content production materials, and integrated recommendations against approved strategies and briefs.
● Provide clear, actionable client and strategic direction to Creative and other agency disciplines.
● Analyze campaign results, identify key learnings, and make recommendations to optimize current and future programs.
● Demonstrate a strong understanding of integrated marketing across traditional, digital, social, content, production, and other relevant channels.
Integrated Account Leadership
● Lead integrated agency teams in developing and executing complex marketing initiatives.
● Establish clear expectations, responsibilities, timelines, and communication across projects and workstreams.
● Partner closely with Project Management to ensure work progresses according to client expectations, timelines, budgets, and scope.
● Identify risks to timing, cost, strategic integrity, or creative quality early and proactively address them.
● Maintain effective communication across agency departments, clients, and partner agencies.
● Ensure Account Supervisors and Account Executives have the information and direction required to manage projects effectively.
● Liaise with client partner agencies to coordinate integrated workstreams and resolve issues as needed.
● Keep the Account Director informed of significant business challenges, opportunities, and client developments.
Financial & Commercial Management
● Manage the financial health of assigned client business in partnership with the Account Director, Project Management, and Finance.
● Maintain oversight of estimates, scopes, budgets, billing, vendor costs, and financial reporting.
● Ensure teams understand and operate within approved scopes and budgets.
● Identify potential scope changes, cost overages, or resource issues early and develop appropriate solutions.
● Partner with the Account Director on staffing and resource planning for assigned business.
● Identify opportunities within existing client relationships to expand assignments or introduce additional agency capabilities.
● Support the development of incremental scopes and organic growth opportunities.
Team Leadership
● Lead, motivate, and develop Account Supervisors, Account Executives, and other junior account team members.
● Establish clear expectations and accountability across the account team.
● Provide regular coaching, feedback, and development opportunities for direct reports.
● Delegate effectively while maintaining appropriate oversight of the work.
● Help team members develop stronger client management, strategic thinking, financial management, and integrated marketing capabilities.
● Build strong working relationships across agency departments and foster a collaborative team environment.
Agency Engagement
● Actively contribute to a positive agency culture.
● Build strong relationships across agency departments and partner agencies.
● Participate in new business opportunities and agency growth initiatives.
● Help train and develop new and junior team members in agency processes and account management practices.
● Bring forward ideas and recommendations that improve client service, team effectiveness, and ways of working.
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree.
● 6 to 8 years of relevant advertising, marketing, or integrated communications experience.
● Significant agency account management experience with increasing responsibility for client business.
● Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex projects and client workstreams.
● Strong knowledge of integrated marketing within an agency account management environment.
● Strong experience across integrated channels, including TV production, digital, social, content, and other traditional and emerging platforms.
● Strong strategic instincts and ability to translate client business needs into clear agency direction.
● Experience managing scopes, budgets, estimates, and financial reporting.
● Demonstrated experience managing and developing junior account talent.
● Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills in a client-facing environment.
● Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
● Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across multiple agency disciplines.
The Office Requirements
BBDO has adopted a hybrid working environment. Employees are required to be in the office Tuesday through Thursday and work from home Monday and Friday.



$110-$140
Omnicom’s policy requires employees to work in the office for a minimum of three days a week, unless additional in-office days are directed by their agency or manager.
