Senior iOS Engineer
*instinctools is a software development company that provides custom software solutions for businesses of all sizes. Our team works closely with clients to understand their specific needs and provide personalized solutions that meet their business requirements.
*instinctools is looking for a Senior iOS Engineer for one of our clients.
Location: Poland, Europe, Kazakhstan
Client: A global mobility and urban services platform that offers ride-hailing, intercity travel, delivery, and task assistance, operating in over 700 cities across 47 countries, and is one of the most downloaded mobility apps in the world.
Project: You’ll join a product delivery team responsible for developing and maintaining user-facing geo capabilities and real-time location tracking services. You’ll be working alongside backend, mobile, QA, and analytics colleagues.
Your work will include in-app geo features such as pickup/drop-off location selection, in-app navigation, route line visualization, Location Manager, and location snapping and accuracy optimizations, plus the integration layer supporting these experiences.
The broader technical context includes a microservices architecture with event-driven integrations and maps integration.
Project Duration: 4 months+
Responsibilities and tasks:
- Design, develop, and maintain iOS features end-to-end, from implementation through release, including geo-specific functionality such as pickup/drop-off confirmation, route and vehicle availability, fixed points, and live vehicle tracking
- Integrate real-time location and geofencing services using Core Location, along with Google Maps/map SDKs, APIs, and third-party route and vehicle data
- Collaborate closely with Geo Data, Backend, and QA teams on feature design, system architecture, and delivery, and participate in agile practices (refinement, sprint planning, demos)
- Apply Clean Architecture principles, review PRs, and design secure data-storage and transmission flows
- Maintain code quality and reliability through unit, snapshot, and UI testing, monitoring dashboards, and root-cause analysis of bugs and performance issues
- Support feature flags, A/B experimentation, and staged rollouts
Our expectations of the ideal candidate:
- 5+ years of commercial iOS development experience, with expert knowledge of iOS SDK 13+, UIKit, SwiftUI, Alamofire, SnapKit, Google Maps, APNs, Swift Package Manager, Firebase, and mobile analytics
- Practical expertise in Clean Architecture and mainstream patterns (MVC, MVVM, MVP), applied in production, along with experience working with design systems and component libraries in SwiftUI/UIKit
- Hands-on experience with Core Location, geofencing, and real-time location tracking, including building map-based applications and integrating mapping, routing, or vehicle/location data services
- Strong grasp of offline storage and modern concurrency (async/await, GCD), with experience in performance tuning and debugging using Xcode Instruments and network tools
- Proficiency with RESTful APIs and third-party library integration, plus an understanding of backend-service principles and API design
- Proven experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions), feature flags, and large-scale A/B experimentation, and the ability to write maintainable, well-tested code (unit and UI coverage)
- Familiarity with secure coding practices, data-driven product decision-making, and App Store Review Guidelines across the full mobile delivery lifecycle
- Solid Git workflow experience (branching, PRs, code review), collaboration tools (Jira, Azure DevOps), and design handoff tools (Figma)
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude) to accelerate coding, testing, and code review
Nice to have:
- Experience with two or more long-term projects (roughly 6–12 months) involving location tracking specifically
- Experience integrating custom or proprietary mapping solutions, beyond standard SDKs
English: Upper–Intermediate (B2+)

-
Proactive ownership and autonomous decision-making
-
Cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder alignment
-
Analytical troubleshooting and root-cause investigation
