Project Description: Leads complex, large-scale analyses and data strategy initiatives, and mentors junior analysts.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Data Analysis & Strategy: (Senior) Design and lead large-scale analytics projects independently, aligning data/metric strategy across teams; perform exploratory data analysis to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that drive business decisions; apply advanced statistical methods and techniques to extract actionable, strategic insights.
- Data Visualization: Develop and maintain self-operating, interactive dashboards and reports using visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker Studio) to communicate findings to senior stakeholders.
- Statistical Modeling: Conduct statistical analysis and modeling to support predictive analytics and machine learning initiatives.
- Report Generation: Own strategic, cross-functional reporting; work closely with senior stakeholders to define reporting/KPI frameworks.
- Data Quality and Governance: (Senior) Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and best practices to maintain data consistency, privacy, and security across the team’s work.
Our Expectations of the Candidate
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in a quantitative field preferred.
- Experience: 4–6 years as a Data Analyst or similar analytics role, including at least 1–2 years mentoring junior analysts or leading analysis workstreams on cross-functional projects.
- Technical Skills: Advanced SQL (Presto/Hive, query optimization); Python (Pandas, SciPy/Statsmodels for statistical analysis); advanced BI-tool usage (e.g., calculated fields and LOD expressions in Tableau, custom Looker explores, DAX in Power BI).
- Domain/Statistics: Solid grounding in experimentation design, causal inference concepts (e.g., panel data, propensity score matching), and predictive/ML modeling fundamentals; comfortable partnering with Data Science on model evaluation.
- Leadership: Demonstrated experience mentoring 1–3+ junior/intermediate analysts and managing relationships with senior (Director-level) stakeholders.
- AI Literacy & Enablement
Strategic AI integration: champions the use of AI tools across the analytics function; identifies high-impact opportunities to embed AI into existing analytical workflows to reduce cycle time and improve output quality. - AI-augmented strategy: uses AI tools (e.g. GPT-4, Gemini, Claude) to synthesise large volumes of data, surface non-obvious trends, and draft strategic recommendations for business stakeholders.
- Advanced automation: builds semi-automated analytical pipelines using Python+ AI APIs (e.g. OpenAI, Google Vertex AI) for tasks like anomaly detection, narrative generation, and data storytelling.
- AI experimentation: designs and evaluates A/B test frameworks enhanced by AI-assisted hypothesis generation and result interpretation; uses AI to speed up experimentation cycle.
- Looker/Tableau AI mastery: leverages advanced AI features in BI platforms (e.g. predictive analytics, natural language querying, AI-generated forecasts) as standard practice.
- Data storytelling with AI: uses AI tools to generate compelling, audience-tailored narratives and visualisations from complex datasets; reviews and edits for accuracy and tone.
- Cross-team AI advocacy: acts as an AI literacy resource for junior team members; contributes to team-level AI adoption guidelines.
- AI risk management: proactively identifies and mitigates risks of AI misuse (bias, hallucination, data leakage); ensures all AI-assisted outputs meet Uber’s data governance standards.
English level: Upper-Intermediate or higher

- A relevant certification (e.g., Tableau Certified Data Analyst, Google Advanced Data Analytics, an AWS/GCP data certification).
