Data Engineer

Our team is looking for a Data Engineer (Trainee/Junior) for one of our clients.

Our client is a leading American multinational corporation specializing in wireless telecommunications products and services, renowned for its semiconductor and wireless communication technology.

The project: You’ll join the client’s Data Unit, which runs the data platforms and automation behind a global semiconductor manufacturing operation — production data pipelines, system integration, infrastructure automation, and observability. The team’s job is replacing manual, ad-hoc operations with versioned, traceable automated flows.

You’ll join a small, senior team, own your own use cases end to end from early on, and be onboarded directly by the unit’s manager, including dedicated Apache NiFi and KNIME sessions.

Working time zone: CET

Location: Munich, Germany 

Work mode: Hybrid (regular onsite presence is required, 1-2 days in the client office) 

Technology stack:
Apache NiFi, Apache Airflow, KNIME, SQL, API integrations, Python.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

• Automate data and process use cases across the client’s production and manufacturing landscape, designing, building, and maintaining ETL and data integration pipelines
• Integrate systems and applications via APIs and perform SQL-based data validation and transformation
• Take ownership of assigned use cases end to end, from requirement to running solution, ensuring they’re stable, maintainable, and aligned with business needs
• Support users and stakeholders with clear, proactive communication

Our expectations of the ideal candidate:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, data science, or a related field
• Hands-on experience with ETL or data integration (commercial, working-student, internship, or substantial project work), and with at least one data automation or workflow tool
• Working SQL: joins, aggregation, and the habit of verifying that a load actually did what it was supposed to
• Practical understanding of APIs and system integration, including authentication, pagination, and error handling

English: Upper-Intermediate (B2+)

Nice‑to‑have:

• Process automation or workflow orchestration (Apache NiFi, Apache Airflow, KNIME)
• Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or Smart Factory environments
• Python or other scripting language
• Experience working in cross-functional teams
• German language

Soft skills:

• Strong communication and user-support skills, comfortable being the person a stakeholder comes to directly

• Proactive, clear communication with users and stakeholders

• High sense of responsibility and ownership, carrying a use case to done without being chased

• Long-term mindset and staying power: genuinely motivated to grow within this role and domain for several years

• Even-tempered and steady under a calm, low-drama working style, without needing constant novelty, urgency, or overtime

• Open to being mentored and trained into a rare, specialized domain, rather than expecting to arrive as an expert
