Business Analyst

*instinctools is looking for a Senior Business Analyst for one of our clients. 

Location: EU 

Client: is a European not‑for‑profit organisation in a critical‑infrastructure sector. We are helping them deliver a new platform that automatically checks large, complex datasets for quality and compliance against evolving industry standards. Delivery is iterative under a multi‑year agreement, in a regulated environment with formal acceptance gates. It is a standards‑heavy, technically demanding domain where precision and traceability are essential.

The role in one line: own the requirements specification end‑to‑end and act as the bridge between the client’s subject‑matter experts and the delivery team.

Responsibilities and tasks:

• Elicit and analyse requirements from stakeholders, documents, and workshops
• Author and own the specification set – vision & scope, glossary, business rules, use cases, process models, data/interface definitions, NFRs, and acceptance criteria
• Maintain traceability and run change control, with impact analysis on every new input
• Derive and prioritise the delivery backlog and prepare iteration/quality‑gate materials
• Facilitate workshops and SME sessions, capture decisions, and maintain a decision log
• Bridge the client’s SMEs and the delivery team, and manage scope against the agreed baseline
• Support acceptance – define per‑iteration “done”, feed test design, and shepherd sign‑offs

Our expectations of the ideal candidate:

• 5+ years as a Business Analyst on complex, data‑intensive software products
• Regulated, enterprise, or critical‑infrastructure delivery
• Working directly with solution architects and domain SMEs
• Iterative/phased delivery with formal acceptance and quality gates
• Strong requirements engineering: elicitation, use cases, business rules, acceptance criteria, and non‑functional requirements
• Ability to learn a deep, standards‑heavy domain quickly and specify it precisely
• Solid data literacy – data modelling, interfaces, and validation concepts
• Rigorous traceability and change management (source‑to‑requirement provenance, impact analysis, controlled change requests)

Nice to have:

• Domain exposure in the client’s sector or another heavily standardised field
• Backlog and version‑control tooling (e.g. Jira, Git)
• Experience mediating between a customer’s technical experts and a vendor delivery team

English: Upper-Intermediate 

Soft skills:

• Excellent written English and the ability to translate technical detail into clear business language

• Structured, self‑driven, and comfortable owning the specification
