About Us

Immersive Technologies is one of the world’s most successful companies in terms of elevating human performance in mining. We’re part of the global Komatsu Group of companies and are the world’s largest supplier of mining equipment simulators, with our solutions deployed in over 50 different countries.

Join our collaborative team and work on projects that transform real-world mining processes and technical requirements into interactive training experiences.

Position Overview (Full-Time, Fixed-Term)

We are seeking a technically capable and adaptable entry to mid-level Unity Developer - Simulation and VR with a passion for solving problems and creating impactful training solutions to join our Perth team.

You'll develop and support interactive training solutions using real-time technologies, primarily through our in-house engine and Unity, combining technical problem-solving, scripting, 3D knowledge and project ownership to bring customer training requirements to life.

You should be comfortable working with code and scripting, with a practical understanding of real-time 3D principles, including topology, UVs, materials and texturing.

The role is primarily development-focused, however you'll also collaborate with clients, subject matter experts (SMEs) and internal technical teams to understand operational requirements and turn them into practical training solutions. Occasionally, projects may involve hands-on site visits, gathering information and working directly with customers and SMEs in operational mining environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and support interactive training products using Unity and our in-house real-time technologies.
  • Implement and troubleshoot interactions, behaviours and application functionality.
  • Investigate technical, visual and functional problems and work independently toward practical solutions.
  • Use scripting and existing development frameworks to implement and modify functionality.
  • Prepare, integrate and validate project assets within the real-time development pipeline.
  • Work with existing 3D environments, machine models, materials, textures, lighting and animations.
  • Perform functional testing of implemented features and assist with identifying, troubleshooting and resolving defects.
  • Work across different areas of the development pipeline, including version control, project configuration, localisation, testing and release preparation.
  • Create and maintain technical and project documentation where required.
  • Collaborate with clients, SMEs and internal teams to translate operational and training requirements into practical interactive solutions.
  • Take ownership of project deliverables and ensure work meets agreed requirements, quality levels and deadlines.
  • Communicate technical concepts, challenges and solutions clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Occasionally participate in customer site visits and project scoping, including gathering information and working with customers and SMEs to understand operational and training requirements.
  • Handle company, customer and project information in accordance with applicable information security, confidentiality and intellectual property requirements.

Qualifications

We're more interested in your skills, problem-solving ability, and approach to challenges than any specific degree or number of years of experience. We are looking for:

  • Practical experience with Unity, Unreal Engine or another real-time game engine.
  • Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability and willingness to learn unfamiliar tools, systems and development practices through documentation, mentorship and hands-on project work.
  • Some practical programming or scripting experience using C#, JavaScript or similar.
  • A practical understanding of real-time 3D principles, including topology, UVs, materials, texturing, lighting and optimisation.
  • An understanding of how 3D assets are prepared and used within a real-time application.
  • Good organisational skills and experience with version control and structured project files.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence working with clients, SMEs and internal technical teams when required.
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • The ability to take ownership of your work and deliver against project requirements and deadlines.

Experience or interest in any of the following would be beneficial, but isn't essential:

  • C# development
  • VR/XR development
  • Game or simulation development
  • Technical art
  • Shaders and materials
  • Unity tooling or visual scripting
  • Localisation and multilingual applications
  • Industrial, mining or heavy-equipment environments
  • Experience working directly with customers or SMEs

Why Join Us?

  • Work on projects that make a real-world impact in the global mining industry.
  • Work across real-time development, VR, simulation and interactive training technologies.
  • Solve a variety of technical challenges across different projects and technologies.
  • Be part of a collaborative team that values learning, technical curiosity and practical problem-solving.
  • Develop your technical, project delivery and customer-facing capabilities.
  • Gain occasional exposure to real-world customer operations and mining environments.
  • Develop your skills through mentorship, documentation, hands-on project work and exposure to different technologies

If you're a technically curious entry to mid-level developer who enjoys solving problems, building interactive experiences and figuring out how systems work, we'd love to hear from you.
The successful candidate will be required to complete applicable pre-employment screening and comply with Immersive Technologies’ information security and confidentiality requirements.
