Title: Head of Growth

Location: Remote, anywhere in the US (Boston preferred)

Reporting Structure: CEO

Company Description

Our client operates a network of microschools across 21 states.

Our client believes deeply that every parent deserves the right to send their children to a school they love. Unfortunately, most parents cannot access these schools, either because they don't exist near them or they're simply unaffordable.

Microschools help to change that reality. These small schools, often between 20 to 40 students, can more deeply personalize learning, better support each child's unique needs, and provide exciting new career opportunities for educators. They can also operate in parts of America that haven't been able to support new schools before, such as rural areas or lower-income communities.

Our client is working to accelerate this sector in two ways. First, they partner with exceptional educators to help them start their own microschools. Their school startup accelerator

is the largest in the nation and can cut the time and cost to start a new school by 90%.

Second, they are building the operating system to power this new generation of schools. Our client is the fastest growing network of its kind anywhere. Their platform helps these schools grow, have greater impact, and change the face of American education.

Their long-term vision is bold: to connect 1 million students globally through the power of microschooling. For millions of families and entrepreneurial educators, the right moment to act is now.

Our client is backed by Y Combinator, Reach Capital, and other top-tier investors who believe in the future of personalized education.

Quick facts:

  • Network of microschools across 21 states
  • Their school startup accelerator is the largest in the nation
  • Backed by Y Combinator, Reach Capital, and other top-tier investors

Responsibilities

Education is changing more rapidly than ever before. Families are looking for better schools for their children, talented educators are ready to start them, and education dollars follow the child to the school of their choice in ways that were unthinkable a few years ago.

Our client has the products and services to help educators start and run these new schools. They reach tens of thousands of educators and families every year and their network spans 21 states. Our client is looking for a Head of Growth to help mature and scale this engine so they can carry their message to every educator, every family, and every community.

In this role, you will own our client's end-to-end growth engine, from building awareness in the sector, to generating qualified demand, to converting that demand into new school founders in their network. Brand and content, growth marketing, the website and conversion, funnel management, enterprise partnerships, and sales all sit with you.

Our client has several growth motions, from recruiting entrepreneurial educators, to selling software and services to established schools, to helping schools enroll families. You will build a coherent growth strategy across them while recognizing that each requires a different playbook.

You will report directly to the CEO, serve as a key member of our client's executive team, and own the company's growth and revenue outcomes. You’ll build a team over time, but in the meantime, you’ll manage a Sr. Brand & Content leader as well as an agency that’s executing the growth & acquisition work.

Specifically, you will lead or oversee:

  • Brand & content: Define our client's market positioning and build a content engine that makes them one of the most influential voices in the emerging school ecosystem. You’ll also manage our current Sr. Brand & Content leader.
  • Digital front door: Analyze & optimize our client's website strategy, performance, messaging, information architecture, and conversion paths.
  • Demand generation: Lead our client's multi-channel marketing engine, monitoring and improving the efficiency of every dollar spent acquiring customers.
  • Conversion funnel: Analyze and optimize each step of the funnel to ensure the health of the overall pipeline.
  • Sales capability: Develop the sales motion for established schools, personally closing early deals and building the team, process, and playbook required to scale.
  • Strategic partnerships: Identify and develop enterprise and channel partnerships that can accelerate our client's growth and help them reach new schools and communities.
  • Team: Develop a high-performing growth organization, investing in the talent our client has today and hiring exceptional people as their needs evolve.

Is this you?

Our client is looking for a rare kind of commercial leader: someone who can build a brand, understand a funnel, and close a deal.

  • You have the strategic range. You shape how our client shows up in the world and have the analytical depth to understand exactly where their growth engine is working. You're as comfortable debating positioning and creative as you are digging into CAC, conversion rates, pipeline, and sales velocity.
  • You're a builder. You've built teams, channels, systems, and playbooks before, and you know how to turn early traction into repeatable growth. You're comfortable creating structure where it doesn't yet exist and figuring things out as you go.
  • You're hands-on. At our client, executives play and coach. You'll grow the team over time, but you should be excited to personally close an important customer, rewrite a landing page, interrogate an underperforming campaign, or develop a new go-to-market experiment.
  • Most importantly, you will care deeply about this work. The Founders our client supports take real personal risk to build something better, and our client takes their trust seriously. Their work has real consequences for teachers, families, and children. You feel awed by the sense of responsibility the team feels every single day.

More specifically, our client is looking for candidates with:

  • 10+ years of experience across marketing, growth, and/or sales, including ownership of a revenue or pipeline number. You don't need to be the world's best practitioner in every discipline, but you need enough depth to set strategy, diagnose, and hire exceptional people.
  • Demonstrated experience building a full-funnel growth engine from awareness through close, not just running a single channel or a single team
  • Deep fluency in performance marketing, including paid acquisition, organic search and discovery, lifecycle marketing, attribution, and customer acquisition economics.
  • Experience selling to small operators, entrepreneurs, prosumers, schools, or similar
  • A bias toward action. You are resourceful, entrepreneurial, and excited to build in an environment where priorities evolve and opportunities emerge quickly

Their team, along with their school network, spans the country. While they have a preference for candidates located in Boston, they are open to candidates from anywhere in the United States.
