People and Culture Coordinator

Role: People and Culture Coordinator

Reporting to: Head of People

Location: London (remote-first, with a small London coworking space; you'll join us in person for all-hands and key events, or more often if you want to)

Hours: We’re open to this role being 4 or 5 days per week

About the Role

Greyparrot uses AI waste analytics to help waste operators, brands and regulators make smarter decisions through waste intelligence. We're a fast-growing team of around 60 people across the UK and Europe, with a small coworking space in London as a home base for those nearby.

We're moving to become remote-first, and we want that to bring people closer together. As our People and Culture Manager, you'll shape how around 60 people across the UK and Europe experience Greyparrot, from their first day to their last: how they connect with colleagues beyond their own team, how they feel about the place they work, and how much they want to stay. When we have in-person events, customer meetings or our annual retreat, you’ll be there to ensure that every moment reflects the standard of excellence we hold ourselves to. You'll work alongside our Head of People with real ownership and room to make your mark, helping us build a People function that scales with the company.

Mission

You help to create an environment where our team can do their best work, wherever they are. You own how we connect as a remote-first team and the foundations of People Ops, so people feel proud of where they work and connected to colleagues beyond their own team.

Outcomes

These are the results you will be held to.

1. Every moment together has a purpose

In a remote-first company, time together has to count. Whether it is an All Hands, a cross-team workshop, a retro, our annual retreat or a monthly lunch in London, people know why they are there, leave feeling closer to colleagues, and see what we agreed turn into action.

2.  People feel connected across teams

Remote-first works when people know each other beyond their own team. Within a month of joining, a new starter knows colleagues across the company. Teams reach for each other to solve problems, and people feel part of one Greyparrot.

3.  Every stage of the employee journey works

From the day someone applies for a role with us to the day they move on, people have an experience they would recommend. New starters feel welcome and get up to speed fast, wherever they join from. People are looked after at the moments that matter, leavers go with a proper farewell, and the basics are right, every time.

4.  What we learn changes what we do

People tell us what is working and what isn't, and they see us act on it. Feedback turns into visible change, so the team trusts that speaking up makes a difference and Greyparrot keeps the people who make it great.

Competencies

How you work matters as much as what you deliver. These are the behaviours we expect to see.

• Customer champion: You understand what our team actually needs, you communicate clearly and manage expectations honestly.

• Impact: Things are measurably better because you are here: a supplier that used to cause problems now doesn't, people still mention how great an event that you ran was, you iterated a process that used to take a week and now takes an afternoon. You treat outcomes as yours from start to finish, and escalate things that need it rather than hoping no one will notice.

• Agility: You know that our needs will change as we grow. You adapt your approach for what we need now, but you’re not precious about your work and when things change, you do too.

• Integrity: You hold yourself accountable for what's yours. You’re motivated by the business succeeding and you help to build a business where our amazing team can thrive. When something goes wrong, you own it and ask for support, and we learn and grow as a team.

• Curiosity: You’re constantly looking for ways to improve employee experience. When something isn’t working, you find out why and own the fix.

Experience

• You have at least 3 years in People, HR or employee experience, and you're ready to own the employee experience at a growing company

• You've run People processes across the employee journey, from onboarding and benefits admin to exit interviews, ideally in an HRIS (we use HiBob)

• You've planned or run team events, workshops, retros or gatherings, and you can describe what changed for people as a result

• You've worked in a remote-first or distributed team and have ideas for how people stay connected across teams, locations and time zones

• You've developed or improved a process in a job, a project or a team you led.

• You've used feedback and data, such as survey results and retention figures, to decide what to change

About Greyparrot

The world is in a waste crisis. Currently we produce 2.1 billion tons of solid waste per year. Data collection of the waste we produce is non-existent, meaning no systematic transparency and no accountability. It means that recycling targets are not upheld, dumping of waste into our oceans remains nobody's responsibility, recyclables get sent to landfill or incineration, and producers get away with sub-standard packaging. Thus, recycling rates stubbornly remain at 10% and, unless we change, by 2040 the plastic stock in the ocean will have quadrupled - a problem that already costs society $1.5 trillion each year.

Our mission is to digital waste flows to accelerate the circular economy. Currently, our camera system and AI software are deployed in recycling plants and waste facilities around the world to measure material flows and provide waste analytics. We have compiled a team of experts to deploy our technology and we’re looking to expand our team.
