GDIT has an immediate opening for a Compliance SQL Database Administrator supporting the CITS contract for USCENTCOM, based in Tampa, Florida. The Compliance Database Administrator plays a critical, hands-on role in securing the database servers.
This position is responsible of tasks required to manage, secure, and optimize enterprise-class database systems while that adhere to Depart of War (DoW) cybersecurity standards. This role involves regular database administering, maintenance, patching, troubleshooting and the direct application of security configurations to achieve and maintain compliance for a CORA cyber inspection.

Duties & Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly skilled SQL Database Administrator with deep expertise in DISA STIGs and hand-on experience installing, monitoring, maintaining, scripting and remediating for an enterprise level compliance. The ideal candidate demonstrated strong technical proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and leadership audiences. Responsibilities include:

Install, configure, administer, maintain, troubleshoot, and secure relational database management systems, with emphasis on Microsoft SQL Server 2019/2022, SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).

Apply relational DBMS design, architecture, operations, performance, availability, and security principles to support enterprise database environments.

Develop, optimize, test, and secure SQL database objects and code, including DML statements, stored procedures, triggers, functions, and T-SQL scripts.

Remediate database security findings identified through ACAS/Tenable scans, STIG assessments, vulnerability assessments, and other cybersecurity compliance outputs.

Implement and maintain database compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) regulations, security policies, Database Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Cyber Tasking Orders (CTOs), Operations Orders (OPORDs), and other applicable directives.

Perform database patching, maintenance, upgrades, configuration hardening, and troubleshooting activities to address vulnerabilities and maintain secure, reliable operations.

Develop, execute, and document software test and evaluation plans for major database software releases, security patches, upgrades, integrations, and hardware changes.

Apply software design concepts, testing methodologies, integration practices, and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) principles within Agile/Scrum development environments.

Develop and document mitigation strategies and Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) for database vulnerabilities or non-compliant configurations that cannot be immediately remediated.

Track, prioritize, escalate, and manage database vulnerabilities and compliance deficiencies to ensure timely remediation and risk reduction.

Create and maintain database system documentation, schema designs, security configuration baselines, remediation procedures, process guides, and operational runbooks.

Develop compliance tracking products, including status reports, dashboards, briefings, and leadership updates, to communicate database security posture, remediation progress, and operational risk.

Use scripting and automation technologies, including PowerShell and T-SQL, to automate database compliance checks, configuration changes, vulnerability remediation activities, and reporting.

Collaborate effectively with cybersecurity teams, system administrators, developers, program managers, and stakeholders to support database security, availability, and mission requirements.

Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical material and compliance status to senior DoD and non-DoD officials.

Manage competing priorities, multitask effectively, and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced operational environment.
Additional Responsibilities

Participate in meetings and working groups with Operations, Database, and Cybersecurity personnel (government and contractor) to track and ensure database cybersecurity compliance.

Support database architecture and engineering reviews by providing hands-on compliance-focused implementation feedback on new database capabilities, technologies, and infrastructure changes.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education & Certifications
Required

Applicable Intermediate DoW 8140 or DoW 8570 Certification (e.g., Security+ CE or equivalent).

Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline (Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or Information Assurance preferred) or Three (3) years of real-world or military experience in database administration, information assurance, or systems administration.

Applicable Expert DoW 8140 or DoW 8570 Certification.

Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent legacy SQL Server certifications.

ITIL 4 Foundation Certification.

Ability to interpret and, most importantly, implement DoD database cybersecurity orders, policies, and procedures (Database STIGs, CTOs, IAVMs).

Strong understanding of POA&Ms, STIGs, CTOs, IAVMs, and related compliance frameworks.

Familiarity with cybersecurity tools such as ACAS/Tenable, RMF, eMASS, and Splunk.

Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile/SCRUM software development methodologies.

Ability to apply hands-on database security engineering expertise in one or more technical areas:

The likely salary range for this position is $93,500 - $126,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.Scheduled Weekly Hours:
