About the Role
The Trust & Safety Detection & Intelligence team identifies, investigates, and helps disrupt fraud, abuse, and other threats across the Fetch platform. The team combines investigative rigor, data analysis, detection development, automation, and cross-functional collaboration to understand emerging risks and develop scalable responses.
As a Platform Integrity Intelligence Analyst, you will investigate suspicious activity, identify emerging abuse patterns, develop and improve fraud detections, and translate your findings into actionable recommendations. You will work with large and varied datasets, assess the performance of rules and automated systems, and help turn individual cases into durable improvements across detection, product, policy, operations, and enforcement.
This is an individual contributor role for someone who is analytically curious, comfortable working through ambiguity, and motivated by understanding how sophisticated actors exploit systems.
Responsibilities
Threat Detection and Investigation
- Analyze account, device, transaction, receipt, redemption, and behavioral data to identify emerging fraud, abuse, coordinated activity, policy evasion, incentive manipulation, and other threats.
- Conduct structured investigations into suspicious activity and emerging abuse patterns, escalating especially complex or novel threats for additional support.
- Identify connections among accounts, devices, identities, transactions, and behaviors to detect coordinated activity and fraud rings.
- Analyze available evidence to help assess the scope, severity, likely root cause, and business impact of identified threats.
- Support incident response by helping validate threats, define affected populations, recommend containment actions, and document lessons learned.
Detection Development and Performance
- Translate investigative findings and known abuse patterns into detection requirements, rules, queries, alerts, dashboards, and scalable monitoring approaches.
- Develop, test, document, and refine rules-based detections in accordance with established quality, governance, and change-management standards.
- Monitor detection performance and investigate changes in alert volume, precision, false-positive rates, coverage, and other indicators of effectiveness.
- Identify false positives, false negatives, detection gaps, and control weaknesses, and recommend improvements that balance fraud prevention with user experience and operational capacity.
Intelligence and Cross-Functional Impact
- Translate fraud intelligence into actionable recommendations for product controls, policy changes, operational processes, enforcement strategies, and partner protections.
- Communicate emerging risks and material findings promptly through established escalation channels.
- Contribute analytical expertise to product launches, control assessments, vendor evaluations, and other initiatives with potential Trust & Safety implications.
- Share threat trends, attacker behaviors, detection learnings, and investigative methods to strengthen collective knowledge across the organization.
Operational Excellence
- Maintain accurate and reproducible documentation of investigative methods, detection logic, assumptions, decisions, limitations, and outcomes.
- Manage assigned investigations, detection enhancements, and project work from intake through completion, communicating progress, risks, and dependencies.
- Handle sensitive user, partner, and investigative information in accordance with applicable privacy, security, and data-handling requirements.
- Use AI and automation responsibly, validating outputs and protecting confidential information while applying independent judgment to decisions.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in fraud analysis, investigations, threat intelligence, trust and safety, risk operations, cybersecurity, data analysis, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
- Proficiency using SQL to query, join, validate, and analyze large datasets.
- Demonstrated ability to investigate ambiguous or complex activity, identify meaningful patterns, and reach evidence-based conclusions.
- Experience developing, evaluating, or improving fraud rules, risk controls, alerts, monitoring, or investigative workflows.
- Working knowledge of detection-performance concepts such as precision, false positives, false negatives, coverage, baselines, anomalies, and behavioral change.
- Ability to quantify risk and communicate findings through clear documentation, data-supported recommendations, and concise presentations.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple investigations or projects with limited supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in loyalty or rewards abuse, marketplace integrity, account abuse, e-commerce fraud, promotional abuse, or consumer-platform Trust & Safety.
- Familiarity with anomaly detection, device intelligence, identity risk, or behavioral analytics.
- Experience working with rules engines, case-management systems, version-controlled detection logic, or third-party fraud-prevention platforms.
- Familiarity with adversarial behavior, fraud-ring analysis, incident response, or the investigation of coordinated and rapidly evolving threats.
- Experience using or building AI-assisted workflows, automation, or analytical tools to improve detection development, case enrichment, investigative efficiency, monitoring, or decision support while maintaining appropriate human oversight.
- Experience translating investigative findings into product, policy, operational, or enforcement improvements.
What You’ll Bring
- Investigative curiosity and a desire to understand how and why abuse occurs.
- Sound judgment when evidence is incomplete, conflicting, or rapidly changing.
- A disciplined approach to testing hypotheses and documenting conclusions.
- A balance of analytical depth, operational urgency, and awareness of user and partner impact.
- A commitment to measurable outcomes, responsible automation, and continuous improvement.
- Clear, direct communication and a willingness to constructively challenge assumptions.
- Respect for different perspectives and a collaborative approach to solving difficult problems.
Success in This Role
Success in this role means producing intelligence and detections that lead to better decisions and more durable protections.
You will be successful when:
- Emerging abuse patterns are identified, investigated, and escalated with appropriate speed and rigor.
- Investigations clearly explain the behavior, affected population, impact, confidence level, and recommended response.
- Detection changes demonstrate measurable improvements in coverage, precision, investigative efficiency, or time to detection.
- False positives, control gaps, and unintended consequences are identified and addressed promptly.
- Stakeholders can use your findings to make informed product, policy, operational, enforcement, and partner-risk decisions.
- Investigative learnings are converted into reusable detections, documentation, monitoring, and institutional knowledge.
