Senior Software Engineer (AI & Full Stack)

About Fable

Global enterprises work with Fable to make products more accessible for over one billion people who live with disabilities. Our customers include global leaders like Walmart, Slack, and Shopify. Fable was featured on the Forbes Accessibility 100 list in 2025, awarded Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies in Design, and has received accolades from global entities like the World Summit Awards and the UN-endorsed Zero Project.

As we continue scaling our platform and expanding our AI capabilities, we're looking for experienced engineers who thrive in fast-moving environments, embrace AI-first software development, and take ownership from idea to production.

About the Role

Fable is looking for a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer with deep backend expertise, strong full-stack development skills, and hands-on experience building AI-powered applications and agentic workflows.

This is a senior individual contributor role for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, takes ownership without waiting for direction, and consistently delivers high-quality software at speed.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will work closely with Product Management, Design, Development, Quality Engineering, and Site Reliability Engineering to design, build, and scale customer-facing products and platform capabilities. Success in this role requires strong technical leadership, adaptability, fast execution, and a passion for continuous learning in an AI-driven engineering environment.

Role Location

We’re a remote-first company, but this role requires periodic in-person team collaboration at our Toronto office. Preference will be given to candidates based in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). If you live outside the GTA and can travel for these meetings, we’d still like to hear from you.

Our values

To lead, listen first
You amplify voices that are less often heard and create space for those voices to grow. The quality of an idea doesn't correlate with the loudness of someone's voice.

The brain is a muscle
If you're going to do something, you will do it well. Practice often and rest when needed. Give your mind what it needs to thrive.

Unlearn to learn
What did we learn growing up, and what do we need to unlearn? It's essential to understanding our personal bias and position so that we can grow.
