Webmaster / Web Content Administrator

We are seeking a Webmaster / Web Content Administrator to serve as the operational owner of our Blue Web Platform-a proprietary communications hub built on Liferay that connects various Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) plans. In this role, you will act as the critical liaison between our Communications and Development teams. You will not be responsible for writing content; instead, you will focus entirely on content layout, site architecture, and user experience (UX). Wearing an end-user hat, you will ensure the platform flows logically, remains aligned with business objectives, and delivers a seamless digital experience. You will join an agile environment as part of a 12-person Scrum team.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform Ownership: Act as the primary operational owner of the Blue Web Portal, managing the updating, maintenance, and overall health of the platform.
- Content Layout & Governance: Manage documentation layouts and site presentation with a heavy focus on user flow, content architecture, taxonomy, and content auditing.
- Team Liaison: Bridge the gap between the Communications team and the Scrum development team to translate business and design needs into platform realities.
- Web & Behavioral Analytics: Utilize Google Analytics to track user behavior, gain platform insights, and drive continuous optimization of the site search and navigation capabilities.
Although primarily remote, this position does require onsite collaboration sessions in Reston VA on a weekly and/or semi-weekly basis. We are seeking candidates that reside in the DC/MD/VA area.

Required Skills

Required Qualifications (8 years+ experience)
- CMS Administration: Proven experience managing and administering enterprise-level Content Management Systems (CMS).
- Content Strategy & Governance: Strong background in content strategy, taxonomy structures, content auditing, and optimization of site search capabilities.
- Web Analytics: Deep experience using Google Analytics to analyze user behavior and platform performance.
- Agile Experience: Experience working natively within a Scrum development framework.
- Flexibility: Ability to adapt to a hybrid schedule requiring periodic onsite collaboration in Reston, VA (ranging from weekly to bi-weekly depending on the project phase).
Preferred Skills & Highly Desired Experience
- Liferay CMS: Prior experience with Liferay is a huge advantage, as the Blue Web Portal is built entirely on this platform.
- Healthcare/BCBS Background: Prior experience working within the healthcare insurance space, specifically within a Blue Cross Blue Shield organization or working directly with the Blue Web platform, is a major plus.
- Technical Skills: Basic familiarity or working knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS to better collaborate with the development team.
