Murex Senior Technical Support Engineer

Support and maintain the Murex platform for a leading banking client, providing application and production support for Murex-based systems in a UK shift environment. The role will focus on monitoring the platform, troubleshooting incidents, supporting batch and end-of-day processes, and ensuring timely resolution of production issues in coordination with business and technical teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide L2 production/application support for the Murex platform and associated applications.
- Monitor Murex services, interfaces, batch jobs, and scheduled processes to identify and resolve issues.
- Analyse production incidents, perform initial troubleshooting, identify root causes, and coordinate with development/vendor teams where required.
- Support EOD/BOJ processes, batch failures, data issues, and application/interface problems.
- Investigate issues using application logs, Unix/Linux commands, SQL queries, and monitoring tools.
- Manage incidents, service requests, and problems in accordance with defined support processes and SLAs.
- Perform routine operational activities, health checks, and production validation after deployments or system changes.
- Coordinate with business users, infrastructure teams, development teams, and Murex/vendor teams for issue resolution.
- Prepare and maintain support documentation, incident reports, and knowledge articles.
- Participate in release, deployment, and production support activities, including occasional out-of-hours support as required.
SKILLS
Must have
- 8+ years of experience in application/production support, preferably in Murex environments.
- Hands-on experience supporting Murex applications/platform in a production environment.
- Good understanding of Murex technical/application support and incident troubleshooting.
- Strong Unix/Linux skills, including log analysis and basic shell commands/scripts.
- Good working knowledge of SQL for data validation and troubleshooting.
- Experience with batch monitoring, job scheduling, EOD/BOJ processes, and production operations.
- Experience in incident, problem, and change management in a structured support environment.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to investigate production issues independently.
- Good communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Willingness to work in a UK shift / UK business hours environment.
Nice to have
• Experience with specific Murex modules such as Front Office, Risk, Back Office, or Accounting. • Knowledge of MxML/XML interfaces, Murex workflows, and integration points. • Experience with Murex batch framework and scheduling/monitoring tools. • Exposure to shell scripting/automation for support activities. • Knowledge of financial markets, trading, securities, derivatives, or banking operations. • Experience working with ITIL-based support processes and tools such as ServiceNow. • Previous experience supporting Murex for a tier-1 bank or large financial institution. • Exposure to application deployment, release management, and production implementation activities.
