About The Role
At CVS, we're building out the API Platform to enable teams across CVS Digital to quickly and easily deliver experiences into the hands of our customers, all at the scale of a Fortune 6 company! The API Platform will be leveraged by hundreds of engineers across CVS Health building sites used by millions of customers.
As a Senior Software Engineer for the API Platform, you'll be a key hands-on contributor, designing, building, and maintaining core platform capabilities. You'll work closely with Staff Engineers and engineering leaders to turn the platform's technical vision into reliable, well-crafted software, while helping partner teams across CVS Health adopt and succeed with the platform.
We need an experienced engineer who can take ownership of complex features from design through production, work through ambiguity with support from technical leaders, and raise the bar for quality on the team. This is a great opportunity to grow your technical impact on a platform that is being shaped from the ground up.
What We Expect of You
Technical Design and Delivery
- You'll own the design and implementation of significant platform features and services
- You'll contribute to architectural discussions and help evaluate trade-offs between short-term needs and long-term maintainability
- You'll follow and help refine the technical standards and best practices used by the team
- You'll proactively identify risks, bugs, and areas for improvement within your areas of ownership
Technical Execution

- You'll identify and address technical debt within the systems you work on
Mentorship and Team Growth
- You'll mentor less experienced engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance
- You'll share knowledge with teammates and help onboard new engineers
- You'll participate in interviewing and hiring
Collaboration
- You'll partner with engineers on other teams to understand their needs and help them integrate with the API Platform
- You'll communicate clearly about progress, blockers, and technical decisions
- You'll write and maintain documentation so knowledge is shared rather than siloed
