LEGAL PARTNERSHIPS LEAD
We’re financing the future of energy Crux is the capital platform for the clean economy. We modernize capital raising and deployment for clean energy and critical infrastructure with solutions across advisory, investments, technology, and intelligence. Our team of 120+ is composed of experts in energy, tax, finance, government, and technology. We have raised $77 million in capital from some of the best investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, Lowercarbon Capital, New System Ventures, Overture, Ardent Venture Partners, QED, Canapi, and others. These funds are joined by strategic investors including Pattern Energy, Clearway Energy, EDF Renewables, Intersect Power, LS Power, Orsted, Hartree Partners, Liberty Mutual Strategic Ventures, MassMutual Ventures, and OMERS Ventures. An inflection point in American energy and manufacturing Energy demand is growing for the first time in decades, driving an urgent need for more affordable and reliable electricity. More electricity requires new clean energy infrastructure and strong domestic supply chains for minerals and components — as well as large amounts of capital. Traditional project financing is opaque, fragmented, and analog. At Crux, we’re changing that. Through unmatched insights and expertise, white-glove service, purpose-built tools, and risk underwriting, we power a more prosperous, clean, and secure energy future. We are scaling quickly and looking for team members who are eager to combine deep expertise with an AI- and tech-forward mindset. The opportunity We’re hiring a Legal Partnerships Lead to build and deepen Crux’s partnerships with the law firms at the center of the clean economy — among our most important and strategic partner relationships. Partnerships is one of Crux’s most important growth engines, particularly for the capital side of our business. Law firms are trusted advisors to developers, sponsors, and investors, and our partnerships with them are built on genuine collaboration and mutual value. This role is about being a true strategic partner to these firms: deepening relationships with the attorneys and teams who advise the largest clean energy transactions in the country, building compelling joint programs, and bringing them Crux’s expertise, market and legal intelligence, and reach. You will own these relationships end-to-end — building trust with partners and firm BD, marketing, and innovation teams, cultivating champions across the firm, designing co-marketing and engagement programs, and working hand-in-hand with our commercial, legal, market intelligence, and marketing teams. You’ll often be the only Crux person in the room with a partner or a firm’s leadership, and we’re looking for someone who can hold that conversation credibly from day one. This is a high-autonomy individual contributor role reporting to the Sr. Director of Partnerships.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Build and deepen strategic law firm relationships: Serve as Crux’s primary relationship owner for a portfolio of leading AmLaw and Chambers-ranked firms — leading meetings on your own, navigating firm BD, marketing, and innovation teams and their conflicts and confidentiality considerations, and cultivating champions across practice groups and offices so relationships are deep and durable rather than dependent on any one person.
- Design and run co-marketing and joint engagement: Partner with firms on the work that creates mutual value and visibility: joint content and thought leadership, co-hosted briefings and events, client dinners, and conference activations. This part of the role involves close collaboration with Crux’s marketing team.
- Bring differentiated intelligence to partners: Work with our Market Intelligence and Legal teams to deliver genuinely valuable legal and market intelligence firms can put to work with their own clients, including CLE-eligible briefings, deal term standards, and tailored reports that reinforce Crux as an indispensable resource.
- Deepen collaboration through Crux’s platform and standards: Where it adds value, help firms engage with Crux’s platform on transactions and collaborate on industry-standard documentation through working groups.
- Keep our mission front and center: Crux’s partnerships exist to connect capital to clean energy projects. You’ll focus your energy on the relationships and collaborations that most advance Crux’s capital markets business and our clients’ access to capital.
- Strengthen the operating system: Keep partner records, relationship health, and program insights sharp alongside RevOps, and refine playbooks so what works becomes repeatable. We’re an AI-forward team and you’ll have real tools to work with.
- Get out in the market: Join partner briefings, conferences, client events, and roadshows (~25% travel) to build relationships through in-person connectivity.
WHAT YOU BRING
You might be coming from a law firm’s BD, marketing, or innovation team, a legal-industry partnerships or alliances role, a project finance or tax attorney moving to the business side, a professional services BD seat, or somewhere we haven’t thought of — what matters most is the fluency, commercial instinct, curiosity, and alignment with Crux values, not a “perfect” path.
- Genuine legal fluency. You can hold your own with an AmLaw partner or in-house counsel. You understand from experience, not from reading, how transactional attorneys shape deal structures and advise their clients.
- Professional services instincts. You know how law firms actually work: how their BD, marketing, and innovation functions operate, the conflicts and confidentiality considerations they navigate, how partners think about their clients and their practice, and what makes a firm want to partner deeply and collaboratively.
- Proven relationship building capabilities. You’ve established impactful relationships at enterprise or top-tier partners before, and people trust you in the room.
- Commercial instinct and accountability. You think of partnerships as a growth engine, not a cost center, and you’ve driven meaningful commercial impact through relationships. You can point to outcomes you helped create and the actions you took to get there.
- Builder’s mindset with bias to action. Roughly 6-8 years of experience, with a track record of owning meaningful workstreams or relationships on your own. You’ve built playbooks or refined early versions of them, you’re comfortable without armies of support, and you’re excited to use AI tools as a force multiplier. High-growth experience is a plus.
- Cross-functional tact. You enjoy working cross-functionally and have a track record of successful collaboration with limited direct authority. You represent partner needs internally in a way that builds trust and reinforces company culture.
- Excitement to grow. Curiosity and pace to ramp quickly on clean energy finance, transferable tax credits, tax equity, and debt.
