We are looking for a skilled and passionate Software Developer to join our Payload Data Ground Segment Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing our Payload Data Ground System (PDGS) and our modern User Access Service (UAS) platform. Our team is small and engineers are able to make real decisions.
About the role:
As a Software Developer in our team, you will operate at the intersection of high-performance backend pipelines and geospatial web delivery systems.
You will design automated ingestion & processing workflows for satellite payload streams and construct high-availability APIs (STAC/REST) that allow users to search, filter, and stream earth observation assets seamlessly.
Key responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain innovative software solutions for satellite payload data ordering, reception, processing, archiving and distributionContribute to system development process across the full lifecycleDesign and prototype automated workflows for processing of raw payload data into standarized EO products (GeoTIFF, COG)Design APIs and service communication using REST and Message Queues.
Write clean, efficient, well-documented and testable code.
Manage software engineering fundamentals, including documentation, version control, and team collaboration.
Identify and resolve bugs and issuesDeploy and monitor developed systemsRequirements (fundamental):Minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience within microservices architecture and frontend developmentExpert in Python and JavaScript/TypeScriptBachelor鈥檚 degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experienceProven experience in web apps (Angular, React or similar) developmentStrong knowledge of SQL, NoSQL databased (e.g. PostgreSQL, MongoDB)Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, S3 objects storage (e.g. AWS S3, MinIO)Experienced with GIT and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI)Self-driven and capable of working independently in a full remote team environmentSolid software engineering fundamentals: clean code, unit testing, git workflows, CICD automationComfortable working in a Linux environment Nice to Have:
Knowledge and/or experience in space sector projects related with satellite data processing performed for example for ESA. Knowledge of PDGS terminology and standards e.g. image quality.
