Managing Director, Global KYC Technology Head
The Global KYC Technology Head is a senior, Managing Director-level engineering leadership position responsible for driving the strategic vision, design, development, and execution of Citigroup’s global Know Your Client (KYC) technology ecosystem.
This role bridges the gap between complex engineering and large-scale operations, focusing on solving operational, policy compliance & E2E client experience bottlenecks through innovative software engineering, automation, and data-driven platforms. The successful candidate will lead a global technology organization to deliver robust, scalable, and compliant AML/KYC systems, partnering closely with KYC Operations, Compliance, Business, and Control teams to drive end-to-end operational throughput and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technology & Engineering Leadership

Strategic Vision: Define and execute the global technology roadmap for the KYC platform, transitioning legacy workflows into modern, high-throughput, automated systems.

Engineering Excellence: Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing global engineering organization, fostering a culture of technical innovation, agility, and operational discipline.

Operations Problem Solving: Apply modern engineering principles (e.g., microservices, Machine Learning, Gen AI, and Agentic workflow orchestration) to solve complex operational capacity, data extraction, and productivity challenges within the KYC Business Support Unit.
2. Operational Capacity & Productivity Enablement

Productivity Frameworks: Lead the design and implementation of global technology solutions that support the operational capacity and productivity framework, ensuring a sustainable, automated end-to-end KYC process.

Throughput Optimization: Partner with Global KYC Operations to set, measure, and optimize technology-driven productivity targets. Extend these models to Business and Compliance partners to ensure end-to-end throughput is accurately reflected and optimized.

Capacity Planning Tools: Deliver advanced tooling and dashboards for real-time capacity planning, workload prioritization, and SLA tracking across Regional Hubs and Clusters.
3. Regulatory, Risk, and Change Management

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the global KYC technology platform continuously adapts to changing regulatory commitments, internal compliance mandates, and shifting client populations.

Impact Analysis: Lead technology impact analysis sessions related to new regulatory requirements, operational procedure changes, and business risk controls to ensure seamless platform adaptation.

Risk & Control: Appropriately assess risk when technology decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets. Drive strict compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:

Minimum 15+ years of experience in technology leadership, with a proven track record of managing large-scale, global engineering organizations within Tier-1 financial institutions.

Operations-Focused Engineering: Demonstrated success in engineering leadership specifically focused on solving complex operational problems, workflow automation, and high-volume transaction/data processing.

Domain Expertise: Deep domain knowledge of global Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Client (KYC) regulations, and compliance frameworks.

People Management: Extensive experience managing multi-disciplinary global teams (software engineers, product managers, data scientists, and architects) and managing substantial technology budgets.

Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication and partnership skills, with a proven ability to influence and collaborate with Managing Directors across Business, Operations, Compliance, and Risk.

Experience with cloud-native architectures, modern data platforms, and deploying AI/ML models for intelligent document processing (IDP) and entity resolution.
Education

Degree (Engineering/Computer Science or MBA) preferred.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Client Experience & Straight-Through Processing (STP) Rate: Increase the percentage of KYC cases processed with minimal manual operational intervention offering optimal experience.

Operational Cycle Time: Reduction in the end-to-end cycle time of KYC file creation, review, and approval through technology enablement.

Platform Reliability & Scalability: Maintain high availability, performance, and scalability of the global KYC platform under fluctuating workloads.

Regulatory Delivery: 100% on-time delivery of technology commitments related to regulatory milestones and internal audit/compliance mandates.

Engineering Efficiency: Improvement in developer velocity, code quality, and automated test coverage across the KYC technology portfolio.
