Business Analytics Manager, Learning & Knowledge Management Analytics - Evernorth - Remote

POSITION SUMMARY

The Client & Customer Experience (C&CE) organization is responsible for the servicing of Cigna customers across multiple lines of business. Within C&CE, the Learning & Knowledge Management arm of Operational Excellence supports the capabilities, tools, and information employees need to serve customers accurately and effectively.

The Business Analytics Manager leads a small analytics team that supports Learning & Knowledge Management by delivering high-quality analytics, trusted data, reporting solutions, and lightweight digital solutions. This is a player-coach role for a people leader who remains hands-on in analytics or data engineering, while guiding the work and development of Business Analytics Advisors.

A critical aspect of this role is partnering with business leaders to identify opportunities, define problems, and translate ambiguous business challenges into actionable analytical and technology work. The Business Analytics Manager works closely with Learning, Knowledge Management, Operational Excellence, Operations, analytics, and technology partners to shape priorities, guide delivery, and improve learner readiness, knowledge effectiveness, and operational performance.

This is a fully remote opportunity for candidates in select geographies. Candidates who reside within 50 miles of the following locations will be required to perform onsite 3 days per week: Bloomfield, CT; Chattanooga, TN; Denver, CO; Scottsdale, AZ.; St. Louis, MO.

Team Leadership & Delivery

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Business Analytics Advisors
• Establish clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and support individual development through coaching, skill building, and growth opportunities
• Partner with the Product Owner to align team work to the prioritized backlog and business objectives
• Provide day-to-day guidance on analytical approaches, technical solutions, delivery plans, and stakeholder communication
• Balance workload across the team, remove barriers, manage dependencies, and personally contribute to delivery when needed
• Ensure work products meet appropriate standards for quality, governance, documentation, security, and maintainability
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, quality, and sustainable delivery

Business Consulting & Partnership

• Serve as a trusted advisor to Learning, Knowledge Management, Operational Excellence, and Operations leaders, building strong relationships and understanding their strategies, priorities, and challenges
• Proactively engage stakeholders to surface new ideas and identify opportunities for analytics, data, automation, reporting, and lightweight technology solutions
• Lead discovery conversations to understand business needs, processes, pain points, constraints, desired outcomes, and the decisions solutions must support
• Gather and clarify business, data, reporting, and functional requirements, distinguishing underlying needs from requested solutions
• Translate ambiguous business challenges into clearly defined, actionable analytics and technology work
• Align stakeholder groups on priorities, scope, outcomes, responsibilities, and measures of success
• Help business partners prioritize initiatives based on impact, feasibility, dependencies, and capacity, connecting needs to product, analytics, data, and technology roadmaps
• Communicate recommendations, tradeoffs, risks, and practical solution approaches in straightforward business language

Analytics & Data Analysis

• Independently perform advanced analytics and investigation work for complex or high-priority initiatives
• Guide development of metrics, KPIs, and measurement frameworks that support Learning & Knowledge objectives
• Combine learning, workforce, quality, knowledge, and operational data to identify trends, drivers, gaps, risks, and opportunities
• Connect learning experiences and knowledge usage to downstream outcomes such as proficiency, quality, customer experience, handle time, and escalation behavior
• Review analytical approaches and outputs to ensure findings are accurate, clearly communicated, and actionable
• Communicate findings through concise written summaries, visualizations, presentations, and recommendations tailored to business partners

Data Ingestion, Transformation & Quality

• Design, build, and oversee repeatable data ingestion and ETL processes that bring together information from learning platforms, knowledge tools, operational systems, and structured manual sources
• Contribute directly to complex data integration, transformation, validation, or troubleshooting work when needed
• Guide the creation of reusable, well-structured datasets and data models that support consistent metrics, scalable reporting, and future self-service analytics
• Ensure appropriate validation, reconciliation, testing, monitoring, and documentation practices are applied
• Partner with enterprise data, engineering, security, and platform teams to align solutions with architectural and governance standards

Reporting & Lightweight Applications

• Guide the design and delivery of dashboards, recurring reporting, self-service views, and lightweight digital solutions that support Learning & Knowledge leaders and operational partners
• Contribute hands-on to reporting, automation, application development, or solution design based on team priorities and capacity
• Promote standardization, automation, reuse, usability, and maintainability across solutions
• Help convert recurring ad hoc needs and manual processes into sustainable datasets, queries, reporting, forms, applications, or workflow tools
• Partner with technology teams when a solution requires enterprise integration, production support, or capabilities beyond a lightweight application

Collaboration & Communication

• Work closely with the Product Owner, Learning, Knowledge Management, Operational Excellence, Operations, analytics, and technology partners to deliver prioritized solutions
• Participate in planning, refinement, testing, demonstrations, and release activities using an Agile delivery approach
• Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, resource constraints, and tradeoffs proactively
• Explain technical choices, data limitations, and analytical results in straightforward business language
• Balance speed and practicality with appropriate standards for security, governance, data quality, and maintainability

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in analytics, statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, information systems, business, or a related field preferred
• 5+ years of relevant experience in data analytics, business intelligence, data engineering, reporting, process automation, or a related discipline
• Experience leading projects, mentoring employees, or managing analytical work
• Advanced SQL skills, including joins, common table expressions, subqueries, aggregations, complex query development, and data validation
• Experience using Python or another scripting language for data preparation, automation, data engineering, or application development
• Experience building or supporting ETL processes, repeatable data pipelines, and analytics-ready datasets
• Experience with a business intelligence or visualization platform such as Tableau or Power BI
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, business consulting, and stakeholder management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex data clearly

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous people leadership experience
• Experience with Databricks, PySpark, cloud data platforms, or enterprise-scale databases
• Familiarity with APIs, version control, testing practices, and deployment or release processes
• Experience working with learning management, knowledge management, workforce, quality, contact center, or operational performance data
• Experience building or overseeing lightweight internal web applications, forms, or workflow solutions using frameworks or platforms such as Streamlit, Dash, Flask, Power Apps, or comparable tools
• Experience in healthcare, insurance, pharmacy benefit management, or another regulated environment
• Familiarity with Agile delivery models and work management tools such as Jira

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload. For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 108,600 - 181,000 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
