Forward Deployed Engineer / Claude Developer

A leading financial technology consultancy is seeking a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer / Claude Developer to act as the technical lead on client engagements. You will lead technical discovery, design and build bespoke AI solutions inside client environments, and set the standard for engineering excellence across the team.

Responsibilities

• Owning technical delivery, from building and integrating to shipping systems into the client’s production environment.
• Working directly with client executives and engineers to understand their needs and turn them into technical solutions.
• Making key architecture decisions, including patterns, integrations and trade-offs for Claude models and agents, and explaining these choices to client engineers.
• Extending and integrating with legacy and governed insurance and financial platforms.
• Developing across the full stack of technologies.
• Leading a small team of engineers and reviewing their work.
• Delivering production-ready systems with evals, guardrails, monitoring and documentation.

Required experience and skills

• Extensive experience in developing and shipping production software, including hands-on delivery of LLM and agentic systems (RAG, agent frameworks, vector stores, evaluation and monitoring).
• Practical experience building with Claude (API, tool use, agentic workflows). A Claude certification will be advantageous.
• Full-stack development experience.
• Experience integrating with legacy and governed systems.
• Experience leading client discovery meetings, making difficult scoping decisions and communicating confidently with senior stakeholders.
• Experience using AI-assisted workflows (planning, implementation, review) across backend, frontend and cloud work.
• Experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer, embedded with clients, will be advantageous.
