Ready to make sure every claim, every eligibility check, every dollar moves exactly where it's supposed to?
Why This Role Matters
Healthcare runs on data moving correctly between systems — and when an EDI transaction breaks, a claim doesn't get paid, a member's eligibility doesn't update, or a provider doesn't get reimbursed on time. This role sits at the center of that flow, testing and troubleshooting the X12 transactions that keep claims, eligibility, and remittance data accurate across every trading partner, payer, and vendor Personify Health works with. The work is technical, but the stakes are human: a mapping error you catch before go-live is a member who gets their benefits on time and a client who trusts the system works. You're the person trading partners and internal teams turn to when something's off, and the one who makes sure it doesn't happen again. Get this right, and healthcare data moves the way it's supposed to — accurately, compliantly, and fast.
What You'll Actually Do
- Test and troubleshoot core EDI transactions: Validate HIPAA X12 transaction sets — 837 (I/P/D), 835, 834, 270/271, and 276/277 — to confirm claims, eligibility, and remittance data moves correctly between systems.
- Diagnose transaction-level errors: Dig into loops, segments, elements, and qualifiers to pinpoint exactly where a transaction broke, then partner with development teams to fix the mapping or programming issue.
- Resolve live production issues: Investigate and close out trading partner and vendor transaction problems as they surface in production, keeping data flowing without disruption.
- Build and maintain test documentation: Create test plans, test cases, and Companion Guide documentation that keep every EDI transaction set audit-ready and consistent.
- Run full-cycle testing: Lead UAT, SIT, and end-to-end testing for new vendor onboarding, system enhancements, and HIPAA version upgrades (4010/5010).
- Develop test data: Build and maintain mock 837I/837P claim data so testing cycles have realistic, reliable inputs to work against.
- Connect the dots between teams: Act as the go-between for trading partners, clients, and internal technical and non-technical teams — gathering requirements and closing the loop on issue resolution.
- Track and manage work: Log incidents and enhancement requests in JIRA and maintain project documentation in Confluence, so nothing falls through the cracks.
- Validate medical coding accuracy: Check ICD-9/ICD-10 and HCPCS coding as part of claims and EDI testing to catch errors before they hit production.
- Participate in Agile delivery: Show up in sprint planning and sprint review, keeping testing work aligned with the broader development roadmap.
