Position Overview
Lead end-to-end testing and product validation across Cardo’s firmware, mobile applications, and cloud services—from requirements through release readiness and feedback from the field.
The manager will establish a consistent testing approach, ensure clear ownership and coverage at every testing level, and provide a consolidated view of product quality and release risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Testing strategy and governance: Define the overall test strategy, responsibilities, coverage expectations, and entry and exit criteria across unit, domain, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Team leadership: Lead a lean team responsible for system integration testing, end-to-end validation, and the test lab. Develop capabilities in manual testing, automation, and AI-assisted testing.
- Requirements and coverage: Engage early with Product and System Engineering to ensure requirements are testable and traceable to test plans, cases, and results.
- Cross-team coordination: Govern the testing approach across engineering departments. Unit testing, CI/CD, and domain testing remain owned and executed by the respective development teams.
- Integration and product validation: Validate interfaces, cross-component behavior, and complete user journeys across firmware, mobile, and cloud, including compatibility, reliability, and regression.
- Automation and test infrastructure: Drive automated integration and end-to-end testing, repeatable test environments, and effective use of lab resources.
- AI adoption within the SDLC: Partner with engineering teams to introduce AI-assisted testing throughout the Software Development Lifecycle—from requirements analysis and test generation through automation, defect analysis, and release validation. Integrate these capabilities into development workflows, CI/CD, and quality gates, with appropriate human review and measurable benefits.
- Defect management: Coordinate defect triage, ensure clear ownership, track resolution, and verify fixes and regression coverage.
- Release readiness: Provide an evidence-based quality assessment covering test completion, open defects, residual risks, and a release recommendation to support the release decision.
- Field feedback and continuous improvement: Work with Customer Success and the Product-led beta program to analyze escaped defects, identify coverage gaps, and drive improvements in testing and development practices.
Key Interfaces
- Development teams: Test ownership, domain readiness, integration handoffs, automation, and defect resolution.
- Product and System Engineering: Requirements, acceptance criteria, user journeys, and risk prioritization.
- Program Management: Testing milestones, dependencies, resources, and readiness visibility.
- Beta Lead and Customer Success: Field findings, reproduction details, escaped-defect analysis, and feedback closure.
Requirements
- Experience leading testing or QC teams for products combining embedded software, mobile applications, and backend services.
- Strong expertise in integration testing, end-to-end validation, regression, and test automation.
- Experience defining test strategies, managing test environments, and using defect and test-management tools.
- Understanding of the overall SDLC and practical experience integrating testing into development workflows and CI/CD.
- Experience introducing AI into testing within an overall SDLC framework, including applications such as test generation, automation, defect analysis, and regression optimization, with human oversight and measurable improvements in quality and efficiency.
- Ability to drive testing standards and accountability across teams without direct reporting authority.
- Strong analytical, prioritization, communication, and people-management skills.
- A practical, hands-on approach suited to a lean organization.
