Summary: Capstone IT is helping our client to find a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer who will serve as a hands-on QA automation leader supporting one or more Agile Release Trains (ARTs) within Workplace Solutions. This person will assess teams’ automation readiness, establish sustainable testing practices, build and improve automated test suites, integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines, and mentor BAs and engineers. The role needs someone who can work independently across modern and legacy environments while influencing teams toward stronger, repeatable QA practices. A major success measure is leaving teams with a testing capability they can maintain after the consultant’s direct involvement ends.

1. QA Automation Engineering: 7+ years, with hands-on experience in several of Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, and Postman.
2. Automation Development & API Testing: Java and/or JavaScript plus REST/SOAP API testing.
3. CI/CD & Technical Breadth: GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tools; experience across microservices, legacy applications, and AWS.
4. QA Leadership & Enablement: Ability to establish QA practices, mentor BAs/engineers, influence teams, and create sustainable automation capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the dedicated QA Automation Engineer for assigned ART(s).
• Assess individual teams and applications for automation readiness.
• Prioritize applications, workflows, and scenarios for automation.
• Establish test repositories, test-case structures, and QA processes.
• Develop automation with Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Postman, and related technologies.
• Create and improve API automation.
• Integrate automated testing into GitHub Actions or comparable CI/CD pipelines.
• Partner with BAs and engineers to develop test plans and scenarios.
• Review team-developed automation and improve maintainability and quality.
• Coach BAs and engineers on testing fundamentals and automation.
• Recommend training and resources to improve team capabilities.
• Collaborate with the QA Lead, Program Manager, Product Owner, Change Manager, and Architect.
• Make independent decisions while knowing when issues require escalation.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of QA automation engineering experience.
• Strong experience with multiple modern automation tools.
• Java and/or JavaScript proficiency.
• REST and/or SOAP API testing experience.
• CI/CD automation experience.
• Exposure to AWS, microservices, and legacy environments.
• Experience with qTest, Xray, Zephyr, TestRail, or equivalent.
• BDD/Cucumber/Gherkin familiarity.
• Karate or similar API automation experience is beneficial.
• Demonstrated mentoring/upskilling experience.
• Strong technical and non-technical communication.
• Senior-level autonomy and decision-making.
• Demonstrated examples of building sustainable testing capabilities.
