Capstone IT is helping our client to hire a Business Intelligence (BI) Report Developer & Analyst for a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity located onsite in Omaha, NE.

This role will design, develop, and maintain Power BI reporting solutions that support operational, financial, and strategic decision-making.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical experience with Power BI, DAX, SQL, and data modeling, along with the ability to work directly with business stakeholders to deliver meaningful reporting and analytics.

1. Microsoft Power BI – Dashboard development, enterprise reporting, Power BI Service, and paginated reports.
2. DAX & Power Query (M Language) – Data transformations, calculated measures, KPIs, and report optimization.
3. SQL – Data querying, extraction, analysis, and validation.
4. Data Modeling – Semantic models, star schema design, and relational data structures.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, scorecards, and paginated reports.
• Build and optimize data models, DAX measures, KPIs, and Power Query transformations.
• Manage Power BI Service workspaces, refresh schedules, security, and deployment pipelines.
• Analyze business data to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and performance improvements.
• Perform root cause analysis, variance analysis, and ad hoc reporting.
• Partner with finance, operations, HR, and other departments to gather requirements and develop reporting solutions.
• Ensure data accuracy and integrity while supporting data governance initiatives.
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to resolve reporting issues and improve data sources.
• Present findings to stakeholders and support user acceptance testing, training, and documentation.
• Identify opportunities for reporting automation, standardization, and Microsoft Fabric adoption.

Required Qualifications

• Experience supporting ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms.
• Strong hands-on experience with Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and Power BI Report Builder.
• Proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M Language), SQL, and data modeling.
• Experience with paginated reports, row-level security (RLS), and Power BI administration.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data Lake
• SQL Server and data warehousing
• Python or R
• SAP S/4HANA reporting
• Git, Azure DevOps, or similar source control tools

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in related technical field of study.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Power BI development and business analytics.
• Minimum 2 years of experience developing enterprise reporting solutions.
• Minimum 2 years of experience working directly with business stakeholders.
