The Opportunity:
CACI is preparing for an exciting modernization effort with the Department of Veterans Affairs. This new program will be a transformational initiative that will reshape how the VA manages acquisition, contracting, and enterprise-wide data. As the VA moves toward a modern, secure, and integrated CMS environment, our team will play a pivotal role in delivering the technology, expertise, and innovative problem solving required to support the nation’s veterans.

The Quality Engineer will design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines supporting a Federal enterprise acquisition system modernization. This role requires strong technical skills in test automation, experience with Agile quality practices, and the ability to work collaboratively across delivery pods to ensure high-quality software releases serving 26,000+ users transitioning to a unified Appian-based platform.

This position is contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement test automation frameworks using tools such as Selenium, or Appian-native test automation capabilities
• Develop and maintain automated regression test suites integrated into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar)
• Create test strategies, test plans, and quality metrics frameworks aligned to contract requirements and acceptance criteria
• Perform functional, integration, performance, and security testing to validate system behavior and requirements traceability
• Collaborate with Appian developers and business analysts within delivery pods to implement shift-left testing practices and define testable acceptance criteria
• Build and maintain test data management strategies, including synthetic data generation and test environment configuration
• Monitor quality metrics (defect density, test coverage, automation rates) and provide quality reporting to program leadership
• Identify, document, and track defects through resolution; perform root cause analysis and coordinate with technical teams
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by developing test scenarios, coordinating with end users, and validating test results
• Mentor junior engineers and promote quality engineering best practices across delivery teams

Qualifications:
Required: 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related technical field, or at least 3 additional years of relevant IT experience
• 5 years of experience in software quality assurance or test automation, with at least 2 years supporting Agile development teams
• Experience with test automation tools and frameworks (Selenium, Cucumber, JUnit, TestNG, or similar)
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies (functional, integration, regression, performance)
• Proficiency with defect tracking and test management tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

Desired:

• Experience with Appian platform or low-code/no-code solution testing
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI)
• API testing experience using tools such as Postman, SoapUI, or REST Assured
• Performance testing experience
• Experience supporting Federal government system modernization programs
• Understanding of Federal acquisition or financial management systems
• SQL proficiency for database testing and data validation
• Familiarity with security testing principles and Section 508 accessibility testing
• Scripting experience (Python, JavaScript, or similar) for test automation
• Quality assurance certifications

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$82,100-$172,400
