Responsibilities:
- Lead and take ownership of core database systems to ensure high performance, availability, and security.
- Communicate critical data changes to the data warehousing team.
- Collaborate with engineering and data teams to manage schema changes from design to deployment.
- Build and maintain automated test and deployment data pipelines.
- Proactively detect weak areas and incorporate them into automated monitoring and alerting.
- Document and automate processes to reduce recurring tasks.
- Evaluate new database features to meet scalability and uptime requirements.
- Own database backup and recovery, establishing disaster recovery practices.
- Support, debug, and perform RCA on production database issues.

Requirement:
- 5+ years of experience managing MySQL/CloudSQL at scale.
- Expert in SQL and MySQL specifics including schema design.
- Deep knowledge of MySQL internals and replication.
- Experience operating Google Cloud Spanner at scale.
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent.
