Machine Operator
Description
I. JOB SUMMARY
Operates two to four machines used to provide hats with their initial shape and size.
II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Places each hat onto the block and uses a foot pedal to position the machine teeth in relation to the hat brim. Once the correct position is obtained, secures the hat using the handle/lever on the left side of the machine. Pulls the right-side lever to close the press and stretch the hat. Upon completion of the process, raises both levers, removes the hat, and stacks the finished product.
III. ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Moves hats as part of the production process.

IV. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position requires standing for the duration of the operation.
- Regular use of a foot pedal is required.
- Requires use of a power grip and ulnar deviation while operating the handle, up to 640 times per hour.
- Frequent twisting, turning, and bending are required.
- Work is performed in a hot environment.
V. QUALIFICATIONS
1. Skills
Requires coordination, manual dexterity, and attention to detail.
2. Experience
Requires experience obtained through on-the-job training or related work experience in addition to job training, totaling approximately 7 to 18 weeks.
3. Education
Ability to read, write, and perform simple arithmetic using whole numbers.
In addition to the above traits, candidates must have the following:
- US Work Authorization
- Ability to navigate stairs/stairwells to get to job location(s)
- Access to reliable transportation
- Ability to work with or near wool material and products
- Ability to work in environments that can become extremely hot/humid
- A passion to do things right is a MUST!
