Our client, an innovative technology startup advancing the capabilities of artificial intelligence and machine learning, is seeking an ML Platform Engineer to build the infrastructure powering its next generation of intelligent applications. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a growing ML ecosystem, architect foundational systems from the ground up, and directly influence how sophisticated AI models move from development into reliable, scalable production environments.

Focus

• Architect and implement scalable backend infrastructure supporting ML workflows, data processing, and production model execution.
• Develop reliable Python-based batch and streaming pipelines that organize, transform, and deliver large datasets across cloud environments.
• Establish structured data management practices covering dataset creation, version control, lineage, validation, and reproducible training workflows.
• Evaluate and implement workflow orchestration solutions, balancing reliability, operational complexity, scalability, and cost.
• Build automated processes that incorporate human-reviewed data into continuously improving machine learning datasets.
• Develop backend services, APIs, and quality controls that enable efficient data access, review, and downstream integration.
• Manage AWS infrastructure, deployment automation, CI/CD workflows, access controls, and production environments using infrastructure as code.
• Implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, alerting, and resource cost visibility while leveraging AI coding agents to accelerate engineering delivery.

Skill Set

• Strong Python backend development and production data engineering experience, including database schema design and batch or streaming pipelines.
• Proven ability to build ML data workflows involving dataset construction, versioning, training and evaluation splits, and integration of human corrections.
• Hands-on AWS expertise across S3, IAM, production compute services, databases, and infrastructure as code using Terraform or AWS CDK.
• Practical experience selecting, deploying, and maintaining orchestration technologies, with the ability to explain architectural decisions and trade-offs.
• Demonstrated ownership of CI/CD, deployment infrastructure, production monitoring, logging, alerting, and cloud cost management.
• Daily proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, including the ability to use coding agents effectively in production engineering workflows.
• Ability to independently design technical systems from inception, evaluate alternatives, and communicate architectural decisions clearly.
• Self-directed engineering mindset, strong written communication skills, and comfort operating within a small, fast-moving remote startup.
