SATCOM Tech II
Bering-Alaka'ina Holdings, LLC is looking for a SATCOM Technician II to support our government customer located in Germany at Ramstein Air Base. This is a full-time position and is part of a 24/7 operational environment. Shift schedules are subject to change based upon operational needs. Candidates must be willing to work a non-standard schedule. Specific shift details can be provided during the interview process.
Under limited supervision, the SATCOM Technician will be responsible for setup, pack up, configuration and maintenance of both fixed and tactical SATCOM terminals and associated assemblies. This position provides critical technical support to customers and ensures the reliable operation of satellite communications systems used to provide secure data transmission. This role requires a skilled and adaptable individual with a strong understanding of SATCOM principles and electronics, and a basic knowledge of network protocols.
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a hands-on technician for configuration, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of SOC-E SATCOM Terminals.
- Install communications equipment, ensuring compliance with manufacture specifications, security protocols, and established operational procedures.
- Proactively adapt to evolving technologies and equipment upgrades through continuous learning and training.
- Interpret maintenance manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams to diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions.
- Utilize electronics, standard test instruments, and hand tools to perform troubleshooting and repairs as required.
- Perform computer filing, plotting, reductions, and data integrating by using oral and written instructions and test plan procedures.
- Calibrate operating equipment and make necessary repairs to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate and/or assist in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of satellite communications systems and associated peripheral equipment.
- Collaborate in the planning and execution of telecommunications wiring and equipment installations, ensuring compliance with industry best practices and security guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, and supervisors regarding equipment configuration, operational procedures, and technical issues.
- May advise management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, and suggestions for product improvements.
- Assist in the preparation of reports, correspondence, or technical studies.
- Adhere to all applicable company and program policies, established procedures and administrative directives.
- Provide flexible technical and non-support as required or directed to meet evolving operational needs.
- Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.
REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Ability to achieve and maintain Germany Technical Expert Status Accreditation (TESA) with a bachelor's degree and 3 years relative experience OR associate degree or major certification and 7 years relative experience OR High School diploma and 11 years relative experience, augmented by ongoing academic/technical/military training and/or certification programs specific to the work unit hardware/software tools.
- Certified IAW DoD 8140 Cyber Workforce Qualification Program at the Intermediate Proficiency level for DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) Role ID 451. (Example: CompTIA Security+ Certification)
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Possess minimum of 4 - 5 years' experience in SATCOM Maintenance.
- Comprehensive understanding of SATCOM/RF fundamentals and antenna theory of operation.
- Solid understanding of electronics and hands-on troubleshooting techniques.
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP network/routing protocols and basic network troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and follow blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures and perform troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in using and interpreting data from test equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and voltmeters.
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate technical information verbally and in writing to both technical and non-technical colleagues, customers and stakeholders.
- Must possess a current state-issued driver’s license.
- Position may require travel.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred in a related discipline.
- Prior experience in a Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) working environment.
- Prior experience working with COMSEC
- Knowledge of Air Force Supply System and Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS) is preferred.
- Active DoD Top Secret security clearance
- Experience in a C4ISR program.
REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance.
- Passport required.
