General Description:

The Associate Director, Portfolio Strategy & Decision Intelligence provides the requirements and owns the quantitative and analytical backbone that underpins the R&D portfolio's prioritization, valuation, and analytical interpretation to support governance reviews. This role sits at the intersection of portfolio strategy, data science, and commercial analytics, translating complex, uncertain pipeline data into reports and analyses to support decision-ready insights for senior governance forums.

As BeOne’s portfolio grows in both size and complexity, spanning overlapping indications, combination strategies, biomarker-defined populations, and platform-level dependencies, this role ensures that prioritization decisions rest on a consistent, auditable, and increasingly AI-enabled analytical foundation, rather than ad hoc modeling rebuilt each cycle. This is a newly evolving capability area for the function and offers significant latitude to shape methodology, tooling, and governance standards from the ground up.

• Prior experience in portfolio strategy and management, preferably within a biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences consulting environment

• Demonstrated fluency in eNPV modeling, PoS-weighted valuation, scenario and sensitivity analysis, and portfolio-level resource optimization

• Track record of translating complex quantitative analysis into clear recommendations for senior executive or governance audiences

• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with credibility among both technical/analytical and clinical/commercial stakeholders

• Familiarity with decision-support approaches in a pharmaceutical R&D or commercial context

• Experience with stage-gate or investment governance processes in a large biotech or pharmaceutical organization

• Working knowledge of oncology-specific value drivers (e.g., companion diagnostics, accelerated regulatory pathways, HTA frameworks, combination/platform strategy).

Essential Functions of the Job:

Quantitative Portfolio Modeling

• Support the broader portfolio strategy team in maintaining and continuously refining portfolio information, through proactive involvement with key customers and stakeholders including: Project Teams, R&D and commercial leadership, Governance committees, Finance, Forecasting and Competitive Intelligence

• Integrate probability-of-success, timelines, scenarios and sensitivity analyses, platform approaches, asset and disease strategy, and franchise perspectives into portfolio context and reporting

• Contextualize internal R&D portfolio data with industry benchmarks and competitive intelligence to assess and support project and portfolio decisions

Insights & Decision Intelligence

• Partner with GPPM Systems and Reporting team, Finance, and Pipeline Strategy and Valuation to provide relevant input and insights to feed decision-intelligence tools: dashboards, predictive models for trial/regulatory success, scenario simulators, and automated competitive or landscape signal feeds

• Own the analytics layer of the portfolio governance process, ensuring committee materials are generated from a consistent, reusable model rather than rebuilt manually each cycle

• Support the GPPM Systems and Reporting team to provide guidance on the uses for emerging AI-enabled approaches (e.g., predictive analytics, automated assumption-flagging, natural-language synthesis of competitive intelligence) to embed decision intelligence into recurring governance workflows

Governance Support & Executive Communication

• Translate quantitative model output into clear, committee-ready narratives and visualizations for senior R&D and Commercial leadership forums

• Support the design and facilitation of structured portfolio prioritization review sessions, ensuring analytics are integrated into deliberation rather than presented as a disconnected appendix

• Serve as a methodological resource to the Portfolio Strategy & Governance team preparing valuation and risk inputs for governance review, ensuring rigor and consistency before materials reach senior decision-makers

Cross-Functional Partnership

• Work closely with GPPM functional partners (Program Management, Systems and Reporting), R&D Finance, Global Commercial Strategy & Operations to ensure model inputs (timelines, PoS, market assumptions) reflect current, defensible thinking

• Act as a bridge between technical/data science capability-builders and the strategic, governance-facing needs of the portfolio team

Salary Range: $148,900.00 - $198,900.00 annually

Actual compensation packages are determined by several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location. Packages may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor. The recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for a preferred location during the hiring process.  Please note that the listed range reflects the base salary or hourly range only. Non-Commercial roles are eligible to participate in the annual bonus plan, and Commercial roles are eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
