Why this job matters:

Responsible for identifying, evaluating, and shaping enterprise transformation opportunities that leverage artificial intelligence, automation, digital capabilities, and process innovation to improve business outcomes. Working within the Transformation Discovery team, this role partners with business leaders, Product Management, Engineering, Service Design, and operational stakeholders to uncover challenges, understand root causes, assess opportunities, and define transformation strategies that drive financial impact. 

Serves as the bridge between business needs and solution development, guiding initiatives from problem identification through opportunity framing and future-state visioning. This role combines strategic thinking, business analysis, organizational consulting, innovation practices, and emerging technology expertise to ensure transformation investments are focused on the highest-value opportunities.

What you will do:

  • Lead discovery engagements to identify high-value transformation initiatives, uncover operational efficiency across business segments, customer experience, and enterprise functions. 

  • Evaluate opportunities through structured discovery methodologies to determine business impact, feasibility, complexity, risk, and expected return on investment. 

  • Facilitate workshops, interviews, observations, and collaborative sessions to gather data, insights and uncover root causes. 

  • Evaluate current-state processes, workflows, operating models, technologies, and organizational capabilities to identify improvement opportunities. 

  • Translate complex business challenges into clearly defined opportunities, business case, value hypotheses, investment recommendations, and roadmaps to support executive decision-making and transformation designs. 

  • Evaluate opportunities for AI, intelligent automation, workflow orchestration, analytics, data modernization, and digital experiences through a value-first lens. 

  • Conduct enterprise research and analysis to understand emerging technologies, industry trends, competitive practices, and innovation opportunities. 

  • Partner with Service Designer and AI Product Managers to ensure opportunities are informed by customer, employee, provider, and operational experience considerations. 

  • Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering teams to assess technical feasibility, dependencies, implementation considerations, and potential solution approaches. 

  • Develop business cases, value assessments, and strategic recommendations that support prioritization and investment decisions. 

  • Evaluate opportunities for AI, intelligent automation, workflow orchestration, digital experiences, data enablement, and operational modernization. 

  • Identify potential risks, regulatory considerations, organizational impacts, and change implications associated with proposed transformation initiatives. 

  • Establish success metrics, outcome measures, and value realization frameworks for transformation initiatives. 

  • Support enterprise transformation portfolio management activities, ensuring investments remain aligned with organizational strategy, value objectives and feasibility. 

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders regarding transformation strategy, emerging technologies, and enterprise innovation. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Strategy, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 

  • 7 to 10 years of experience in management consulting, business transformation, corporate strategy, business analysis, innovation, product strategy, operational excellence, or related disciplines. 

  • Experience leading discovery, strategy, process improvement, or transformation initiatives in complex organizational environments. 

  • Strong knowledge of business process analysis, organizational design, operating models, service delivery, and transformation methodologies. 

  • Demonstrated expertise in enterprise AI, intelligent automation, digital transformation, conversational AI, workflow technologies, and emerging business technologies. 

  • Experience assessing business opportunities, developing business cases, and quantifying expected organizational value. 

  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities. 

  • Strong facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and executive communication skills. 

  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of information and identify meaningful insights, patterns, and strategic opportunities. 

  • Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research to support business decisions. 

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and define structure within emerging opportunities. 

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across business, technology, product, and operational teams. 

  • Proven track record in customizing large language model (LLM) prompts in tools like Microsoft Copilot and Copilot Studio to ensure outputs match your expected brand voice, architectural guidelines, or formatting rules. Demonstrated experience using prompts to set up safety nets so that automated outputs remain consistent, accurate, and secure.

  • Demonstrated experience in no-code/low-code software tools such as Zapier, Make, n8n, and/or Power Automate to visually connect automation workflows.

  • Experience in utilizing Generative AI tools and AI API access to models such as OpenAI GPT, Anthropic Claude, and Google Gemini

  • Experience in leveraging generative AI platforms like Figma Make, Cursor, Replit, Claude Code, and Lovable to rapidly prototype user journeys and user experiences

The extras:

  • Experience in healthcare payer environments including customer operations, provider operations, care management, claims, utilization management, digital health, or enterprise functions strongly preferred.

 

Location:
BCBSRI is headquartered in downtown Providence, conveniently located near the train station and bus terminal. We actively support associate well-being and work/life balance and offer the following schedules, based on role:

  • In-office: onsite 5 days per week
  • Hybrid: onsite 2-4 days per week
  • Remote: onsite 0-1 days per week. Permitted to reside in the following states, pending approval from the Human Resources Department: Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia
