Senior Director, Growth Marketing
Driven to be the Best
People. Performance. Purpose.
At Avis Budget Group, we’re driven to be the best vehicle rental company in the world, together. Our 25,000 employees raise the bar every day, bringing different perspectives, taking ownership, and leading with integrity. We’re defining the future of mobility with safe, sustainable solutions that move people, businesses, and communities forward.
The Senior Director, Growth Marketing is responsible for driving customer acquisition, retention, and lifetime value through performance-driven, data-informed marketing across paid media, organic search (SEO/AEO/GEO), and CRM channels (email, SMS, push). This role sets global strategy for growth marketing while owning full end-to-end execution for North America, including agency management, budget stewardship, and performance accountability.
This leader will build and scale a growth marketing function that balances efficient customer acquisition with long-term brand and revenue health, partnering closely with Brand Marketing, Digital Product, Data/Analytics, and Revenue Management to ensure growth strategies align with broader commercial goals across our portfolio of brands.
What You'll Do:
Strategic Leadership
- Own the global growth marketing strategy across paid media, SEO/AEO/GEO, and CRM, setting standards, frameworks, and best practices that regional teams can adopt
- Own North America's growth marketing P&L, balancing acquisition cost, retention economics, and revenue contribution
- Partner with the SVP Marketing and cross-functional leaders (Brand, Digital, Data, Revenue Management, Finance) to align growth plans with overall business objectives
- Build the multi-year roadmap for how paid, organic, and CRM channels work together across the full customer lifecycle
Paid Marketing
- Own strategy, budget allocation, and performance across all paid channels (search, social, display, video, affiliate, programmatic, etc.)
- Set and manage media budgets, ensuring efficient allocation; partner with appropriate cross-functional teams (e.g., analytics, finance) to develop and track against key performance metrics (e.g., ROAS, ROI, and LTV targets)
- Oversee media agency relationships: selection, contracts, performance management, and day-to-day execution oversight
- Drive testing and optimization roadmaps across creative, audience, and bidding strategy
SEO / AEO / GEO
- Define and lead organic search strategy, including traditional SEO, Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) as search behavior shifts toward AI-driven discovery
- Oversee technical SEO, content strategy, and structured data initiatives in partnership with Digital Product and Content teams
- Monitor the evolving search/AI landscape and adapt strategy as new discovery surfaces (LLMs, AI overviews, voice) emerge
- Manage any supporting SEO agencies or vendors
CRM (Email, SMS, Push)
- Own lifecycle marketing strategy across email, text, and push to drive engagement, retention, and repeat usage
- Build segmentation, personalization, and automation strategies in partnership with Data/CRM platform teams
- Define KPIs for CRM performance (open/click rates, conversion, churn/reactivation) and continuously optimize messaging cadence and relevance
- Manage vendor relationships to maximize email program health, customer experience and revenue
Execution & Operations (North America)
- Hold full execution responsibility for North America across all three channel areas — this is a hands-on leadership role, not strategy-only
- Manage agency and vendor relationships, including RFPs, contracts, and performance reviews
- Own budget planning, forecasting, and in-period reallocation based on performance
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of channel owners, managers, and/or analysts
Measurement & Reporting
- Partner with Analytics/Data teams to build attribution and measurement frameworks across paid, organic, and CRM
- Report regularly to the SVP Marketing and senior leadership on performance, spend efficiency, and growth KPIs
- Use data to continuously refine channel mix and investment strategy
Perks You’ll Get:
- Access to Medical, Dental, Vision, Life and Disability insurance
- Eligible to elect other voluntary benefits including: Group Auto Insurance, Group Home Insurance, Pet Insurance, Legal Assistance, Identity Theft Protection, FSA, Accident Insurance, Critical Illness Insurance, and additional life insurance coverages
- 401(k) Retirement Plan with company matched contributions
- Full training to learn the business and enhance professional skills
- Employee discounts, including discounted prices on the purchase of Avis/Budget cars
- Access to an Employee Assistance Program for services including counseling, financial and legal consultation, referrals for care service and more
What We're Looking For:
- 8+ years in performance/growth marketing, with meaningful experience owning paid media, SEO, and CRM simultaneously
- 4+ years in a senior leadership role managing teams and agency partners
- Proven track record of managing significant media budgets and delivering measurable ROI
- Experience building and evolving SEO strategy in light of AI-driven search changes (AEO/GEO) is strongly preferred
- Strong CRM/lifecycle marketing experience across email, SMS, and push, including segmentation and marketing automation platforms
- Experience operating in both global strategy and local/regional execution contexts
- Strong agency management background — selection, negotiation, and performance accountability
- Analytical rigor; comfort working with attribution models, dashboards, and data teams
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience presenting to senior/executive leadership
- Experience in travel, mobility, hospitality, or a similarly high-consideration, repeat-purchase consumer category is a plus
