Embedded Software Engineer IV

As an Embedded Engineer IV, you will build and own the embedded software that runs ASI's autonomous vehicles. You write production C++ on real-time and embedded systems, close to the sensors, actuators, and compute our machines depend on. Your focus is embedded, and you also work across adjacent software domains like perception and guidance, navigation, and control as the work demands. You validate your software on real hardware in the lab and in the field, set technical direction, and mentor other engineers. You work on the Advanced Prototype team, where the systems are early enough that you shape how they work.

Responsibilities

• Design and own embedded software for ASI's autonomous vehicles.

• Write production C++ for real-time and embedded systems.

• Integrate software with sensors, actuators, and vehicle hardware.

• Work across adjacent domains like perception and GNC as the work demands.

• Validate and debug software on real hardware in the lab and field.

• Own features from design through testing to deployment.

• Set technical direction and mentor other engineers.

• Partner across software, electrical, and mechanical teams.

Qualifications

• Strong C++ software engineering for real-time or embedded systems.

• Deep experience with embedded software running close to hardware.

• A track record shipping production embedded software from design through field testing.

• Comfort working across adjacent software domains (perception, GNC, or similar).

• Skill debugging software running against real hardware and sensors.

• Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring.

• Bachelor's in computer science, computer or electrical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Exposure to robotics, autonomy, or hardware-in-the-loop systems is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to remain in a stationary position at a computer workstation for extended periods.

• Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment continuously.

• Ability to communicate and exchange information in person, via phone, and through electronic means.

• Ability to traverse office, lab, data center, and field environments as required.

• Ability to work in lab, prototype, and outdoor field environments around vehicles and equipment.
