Product Development Assistant
Description
Artful Home is focused on becoming an increasingly inclusive and equitable company. We believe creative expression exists in everyone, and we're committed to celebrating and representing the true diversity of American culture — for the artists, makers, and designers we support, and for our own team.
We're looking for a detail-oriented Product Development Assistant to join our Los Angeles studio. You'll be the connective tissue of our product development process — keeping samples, data, and vendor relationships moving accurately and on schedule so design and technical teams can do their best work. This role reports to the Senior Manager of Product Development.
What You'll Do
- Sample & material flow — Coordinate the shipping and receiving of samples, references, and materials between design, technical design, corporate headquarters, and outside vendors; prepare send-outs for processes that can't be done in-studio; travel to contractor sites and the fabric dye house, and pick up sample trim locally as needed.
- Sample & documentation accuracy — Prep, tag, and proof samples, photo samples, tech packs, and sew-by samples for accuracy before hand-off; create historical swatch cards each season; photograph samples daily and share them with the design team for approval.
- Development data & archives — Maintain sample and drop archives, the AP/development chart, and sample yardage tracking; update whiteboards and the development chart daily; keep the seasonal Assortment Plan current with all revisions, adds, drops, and changes.
- Vendor & pricing management — Create purchase orders for send-outs and coordinate contractor pickup/drop-off, verifying order accuracy (sample making, crushing, wash, etc.); maintain the Pricing Document in the PLM.
- Studio operations — Set up and host major meetings such as First View, including prepping the studio, ordering supplies and lunches, and printing materials; greet studio visitors; keep supply inventory stocked.
