POSITION OVERVIEW:

Our client is seeking a Staff Forward Deployed Engineer / Tech Lead to lead complex enterprise deployments and shape the technical standards for its forward deployment engineering team.

This hands-on role combines software engineering, systems architecture, and client-facing technical leadership. You will work with enterprise customers to design and deploy AI-powered content solutions across cloud and on-premises environments, while partnering with internal product and engineering teams to turn customer needs into scalable platform capabilities.

The ideal candidate is an experienced technical leader who can solve complex engineering challenges, guide senior engineers, and communicate confidently with both technical teams and executive stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Own the technical architecture, security design, and systems integration strategy for complex enterprise deployments.
• Design and build cloud-native applications and microservices using technologies such as Go, Python, .NET, and React.
• Architect reliable, high-volume media and AI pipelines supporting video processing, metadata enrichment, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and automated content workflows.
• Lead integrations across AWS, Azure, customer-managed cloud environments, and on-premises infrastructure.
• Serve as a senior escalation point for challenging technical issues, performance bottlenecks, and custom integrations.
• Partner with product and core engineering leaders to turn customer-specific solutions into reusable platform features.
• Develop deployment frameworks, integration patterns, and engineering standards that improve consistency and reduce onboarding time.
• Drive architectural improvements, code quality, and technical debt reduction across deployment and platform interfaces.
• Build relationships with client CTOs, chief architects, and other senior technical leaders.
• Support complex technical evaluations alongside solutions architects and account executives.
• Mentor senior forward deployed engineers and deployment engineers, providing guidance on architecture, execution, and customer engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 12+ years of progressive software engineering experience.
• 4+ years leading technical architecture, enterprise systems integration, or forward deployed engineering teams.
• Expert-level proficiency in Go, Python, or .NET for backend development and microservices.
• Strong experience with React and micro-frontend architecture.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, and search technologies such as Elasticsearch or OpenSearch.
• Deep knowledge of AWS and Azure, container technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD tools.
• Proven experience designing scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems and working with enterprise security and hybrid cloud environments.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions and present complex architecture to executive audiences.
• Strong communication, technical leadership, and mentoring skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Distributed Systems, or a related technical field.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience in media and entertainment technology, including digital or media asset management, video streaming, broadcast automation, or video transcoding.
• Experience building production solutions involving large language models, computer vision, automated indexing, or AI-driven workflows.
• Experience using or introducing AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or GitHub Copilot.

LOCATION: San Francisco Bay Area, California. Hybrid position with local client onsite meetings.

TRAVEL: Up to 20–25% regional and global travel for high-priority client and executive meetings.
