Job Summary
The Eyes on Glass (EOG) IT Incident and Event Management Specialist supports Veteran Affairs (VA) Event Management by enhancing monitoring and triage processes that safeguard enterprise systems serving our nation’s veterans. In this role, you will operate within the Enterprise Command Center (ECC) Major Incident and Event Management (MIEM) team, collaborating closely with major incident management, monitoring, problem management, and DevOps groups.
You will detect, investigate, and escalate issues across enterprise-level applications and technology stacks, contributing to modernization efforts across VA systems. This position requires strong technical expertise, real-time triage capabilities, and the ability to correlate performance data across multiple monitoring platforms. Shift work—including weekends, holidays, or off-hours—may be required.
Responsibilities
- Monitor enterprise applications and technology stacks to identify and triage incidents in real time.
- Collaborate with major incident management, monitoring, problem management, and DevOps teams.
- Correlate and deliver performance data across VA monitoring platforms to support incident response.
- Escalate critical alerts to VA stakeholders using knowledge of workflow systems and multi-environment application processes.
- Serve as a technical SME, working with system, application, and network administrators to refine alert thresholds and reduce false positives.
- Escalate monitoring tool issues to appropriate support teams and contribute to Knowledge Base Article improvements.
- Support enterprise-level triage and incident resolution while gaining experience with VA system infrastructure.
- Participate in shift-based support, including weekends, holidays, and off-hours as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering and 5+ years of professional experience, or 13+ years of professional experience in lieu of a degree.
- 5+ years of experience in systems administration and operations, including performance monitoring, trend analysis, and alert generation.
- 5+ years of experience in application/platform support, including monitoring tool configuration, change control, and major incident response.
- 5+ years of experience deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex enterprise-scale applications with cross-functional teams.
- 5+ years of monitoring and troubleshooting experience with at least two APM tools such as Dynatrace, ScienceLogic, Elastic, AppDynamics, LogicMonitor, or SolarWinds.
- 5+ years of enterprise IT experience across Unix/Linux, Windows, and mainframe environments.
- 1+ years of experience with service virtualization, AWS or Azure cloud technologies, containers, SaaS, or PaaS implementations.
- Experience tracking and reporting team scheduling considerations and managing client communications related to team performance.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with enterprise ITSM tools, especially ServiceNow.
- Experience managing virtual teams.
- Prior experience supporting IT operations or systems within a healthcare environment.
Travel Requirements
Travel to client locations is required for this position and may vary based on project needs.

Due to federal contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this position. This position supports a federal government contract and requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability Determination, depending on the agency’s background investigation requirements.
- Salary Range: $60,000-$90,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on factors including education, experience, qualifications, skills, and applicable contract requirements.
