Here, you’ll do more than join something — you’ll add something As an Engineering Manager in the Special Projects group, you will have an opportunity to be part of an innovation-focused organization within Apple that is exploring the overlapping space around Simulation and AI/ML. You will be able to work on ambitious, high-reward, and impactful projects in the early stages of development. This team has a strong focus on simulation in service of AI/ML projects. We use both traditional and generative AI techniques and we are looking for ways to adopt new techniques while making best use of long-standing ones. Our ideal engineering leader is fearless when it comes to trying new things and is willing to iterate on ideas. We value team members who can quickly prototype, and also iterate and polish all the way to high-quality implementations. Moreover, we value leaders who can foster collaboration within their team and with cross-functional groups. As manager of the Simulation Content team, you will:

• Lead and manage a team of innovative engineers and artists to generate and manage 3D content and generate
• simulation-derived datasets for customers, blending traditional and generative AI-based approaches.
• Develop and execute on a roadmap which delivers key datasets to our team and customers in a timely way.
• Strengthen the team by hiring and developing top engineering and art talent
• Work with cross-functional teams to design, plan, and deliver datasets
• Lead the team but also make an individual contribution on tools and/or content generation.
• Contribute to architecture, design and feature development, thoughtfully incorporating generative AI approaches
• Contribute to toolsets and data deliveries directly
• Use our own tools to help understand their strengths and weakness better.

• 7+ years of experience developing software and content as an engineer or a technical artist
• Strong software engineering background.
• Experience as a software engineering team manager.
• Experience with 3D content production: Video games, film or visual effects production are all great backgrounds.
• Experience with contemporary generative AI for coding and 3D data generation.
• User-focused: passion for customer experience, attention to details. Experience with live production software or content production teams.
• Software architecture and design skills. Ability to consider alternatives and manage risk in project planning. Ability to try new approaches to existing problems.
• Strong communication and presentational skills
• Experience leading the technical development of larger features and collaborating across organizational boundaries.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to build a culture of collaboration and productivity in the team along with supportive risk taking.
• Ability to grow engineers of varying levels toward their career goals.

• Experience with USD format and APIs
• Experience with contemporary simulation systems (Omniverse, IssacSim, Gazebo) is a big plus.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $206,200 and $356,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
