Short Summary:
Apex is seeking a Transportation Civil Engineer to join their team in Portland, Oregon. The role involves civil engineering design work in a collaborative environment, focusing on projects that shape communities and protect the environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and oversee various elements of design work including roadway sections, intersection layout, construction staging & traffic control, signing & striping, ADA design, interchange layout, roadway drainage, alignment/right-of-way plans, temporary erosion control plans, site preparation plans, roadway profiles, and utility plans.
- Assist in the management of moderate to large-scale projects and independently manage smaller projects.
- Perform civil engineering design tasks associated with state and local municipal public works projects and private development projects.
- Mentor and lead junior staff through project delivery.
- Maintain active communication with project managers and manage project tasks effectively.
- Participate and represent Apex in professional organizations and functions.
Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering.
- Professional Engineer License (P.E) in Oregon and/or Washington, or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- 5+ years of design experience with a solid understanding of civil engineering focused on roadway design.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation Inroads, or other design software.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience working in a consulting firm or municipal engineering department.
- Familiarity with local development codes and standards.
