Ancestry is seeking a Staff Product Manager to drive the cross-functional vision, strategy, and execution for our Mobile App (iOS & Android) within the Activate product organization. Your mission will be to evolve our Ancestry mobile app as a primary pathway for customer acquisition, conversion, and retention. You will sit at the intersection of DNA and Family History.
You will join a passionate, cross-functional team of PMs, designers, mobile engineers, data scientists, and user researchers. This role offers high organizational visibility and significant potential to impact company-wide conversion, subscription growth, and active engagement metrics.
What You Will Do...
- Execute Strategic Mobile Priorities: Lead the cross-functional product roadmap for the Mobile App under the Activate team’s strategy, focusing on converting DNA-first customers into Family History subscribers and streamlining early user conversion flows.
- Bridge DNA to Family History (FH): Build and refine intuitive, high-converting "Bridges" experiences (such as connecting DNA Matches and Origins to family tree building and record exploration) that capture user curiosity and drive conversion during key high-intent moments.
- Modernize the Mobile Tech & Conversion Stack: Support the building and delivery of a native, frictionless mobile subscription and checkout architecture to improve user experience and lift conversion rates.
- Drive In-App Subscriptions & Retain Early Users: Increase In-App Mobile GSA conversion volume, repeat 30-day product usage, and long-term retention by removing complexity and providing clear guidance for new registrants.
- Lead Strategy & Cross-Functional Alignment: Establish a clear product vision and 18-24 month roadmap for native mobile experiences. Align senior product leadership, engineering, design, marketing, analytics, and adjacent product teams (e.g., Engage, Preserve & Share, DNA Science) around shared outcomes and priorities.
- Define & Monitor KPIs: Establish quantitative success metrics (In-Product Sign-ups, Repeat Usage, UX Score) and guardrail metrics to continuously evaluate and optimize native app performance.
- Champion Customer Empathy & Continuous Testing: Leverage foundational user research, A/B testing, and behavioral data to solve core user pain points, eliminate cognitive friction for novice explorers, and advocate for the voice of the mobile customer.
Who You Are...
- Experience & Scope: 5+ years (or equivalent) of Product Management experience in consumer-facing (B2C) digital products, with proven experience building and shipping features for native mobile applications (iOS/Android).
- Mobile Monetization Experience: Hands-on experience improving native mobile onboarding, paywall, or subscription flows to drive conversion.
- Growth & Optimization Focus: Track record of optimizing conversion funnels, running experiments, and guiding users across multi-product portfolios or freemium/trial experiences.
- Data-Driven Approach: Proficient with data analytics tools, defining feature-level KPIs, setting up A/B tests, and synthesizing quantitative data with qualitative research to inform roadmap prioritization.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Demonstrated capability to collaborate effectively with engineering, design, and analytics partners, navigating technical dependencies and clearly communicating progress to product management leadership.
- Technical Understanding: Good understanding of the native mobile development lifecycle, app store release processes, mobile UX patterns, and agile workflows.
- Passion: Curiosity and passion for genomics, personal identity, storytelling, and family history.
