Whether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or bringing leading edge products to market, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger — technology that moves the world forward. Join us and, together, we’ll advance your career.

THE ROLE

We are seeking a Chip Lead ready to broaden their technical impact across the full chip development lifecycle.

You will partner with chip leads and cross-functional engineering teams, bringing deep expertise in one or more areas while developing broad technical fluency across architecture, design, validation, and production. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, working across technical boundaries, and growing toward broader chip-level leadership.

THE PERSON

You are a technically versatile engineer with deep expertise in one or more semiconductor domains and a broad understanding of chip development. You thrive in ambiguous environments, are proactive and collaborative, and can influence technical decisions across teams.

You balance technical depth with system-level thinking and enjoy working across organizational boundaries to deliver successful silicon products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and contribute to chip development from architecture through production.
  • Provide technical leadership across multiple phases of the silicon development lifecycle.
  • Drive technical decisions and resolve complex engineering challenges.
  • Partner with chip leads and program managers on execution, planning, dependencies, and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate across architecture, RTL, verification, physical design, validation, software, packaging, and manufacturing teams.
  • Interface with customers, foundries, IP vendors, and EDA partners as needed.
  • Drive alignment across stakeholders and contribute to continuous improvement of design methodologies and engineering processes.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Strong ASIC/SoC development experience across multiple areas, such as architecture, RTL, verification, physical design, power, packaging, silicon validation, manufacturing, and production ramp.
  • Deep expertise in one or more semiconductor disciplines with broad knowledge of the end-to-end chip development lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of SoC architecture, RTL design and synthesis, verification, timing closure, power optimization, DFT, silicon bring-up, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency with Verilog, VHDL, and/or SystemVerilog.
  • Experience with industry-standard ASIC design methodologies and EDA tools.
  • Strong technical problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and drive results without formal authority.
  • Experience working effectively in ambiguous and rapidly changing environments.
  • Experience with advanced process nodes, including 7nm and below, preferred.
  • Exposure to CPU, GPU, FPGA, AI/ML accelerators, and/or networking devices is a plus.
  • Previous technical leadership or mentoring experience preferred.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
