Needed - Brand Manager

Brand Manager

Location: Remote (US). West Coast preferred, though flexible for outstanding applicants nationwide.

Type: Full-time

Reports to: VP, Brand Marketing

Team: Brand

About Needed:

Needed is a women's nutritional supplement company founded by two mothers and trained nutritionists who discovered firsthand that women are nutritionally depleted at the most critical moments of their lives, including during pregnancy, postpartum, and perimenopause. Our formulations are developed in collaboration with clinicians and researchers and are designed to reflect modern research around women's actual nutritional needs. Recommended by 20,000+ women's health experts, every batch of Needed supplements passes through 2,000+ quality checkpoints.

We are women-founded, well-funded, and backed by leading impact and women's health investors.

About the Role:

We're looking for a Brand Manager to help build and manage Needed's brand communications, partnerships, and events engine. Reporting to the VP of Brand Marketing, this person will own PR and communications end-to-end, manage partnerships from outreach through execution, and serve as a proactive, trend-savvy voice inside the brand function.

This role sits at the center of a lot of moving pieces — press, partners, social, editorial, and events — and works in close partnership with the Content and Creative teams, which also sit under Brand. You'll bring ideas to the table based on what's happening in the industry, not just wait for direction, and you'll be trusted to run point on relationships and moments that shape how the world sees Needed.

Brand work here is judged on outcomes, not activity: coverage that moves the needle on awareness and sentiment, partnerships that earn credibility with the right audiences, and growing evidence of Needed's voice showing up consistently everywhere women are looking for trustworthy nutrition guidance — including the AI assistants and search tools increasingly shaping how people discover brands.

What You'll Do:

Brand PR & Communications

• Own Needed's PR and communications strategy alongside VP of Brand, managing our PR agency day-to-day and holding them accountable to results.
• Draft and edit press releases, media pitches, statements, and executive talking points in Needed's voice.
• Identify and pursue proactive press opportunities based on industry trends, news cycles, and category moments.
• Prep spokespeople (including founders) for media appearances and manage media relationships directly when needed.
• Collaborate with our PR agency to track press coverage, share of voice, and sentiment, and report on PR impact against brand awareness goals.
• Support crisis-communications readiness — helping maintain response protocols and drafting holding statements in partnership with the VP of Brand Marketing when issues arise.
• Collaborate with our PR agency and Growth team to monitor how Needed is represented in AI assistants and answer engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews), flagging gaps or inaccuracies and partnering with SEO/Content on how earned coverage feeds those surfaces.

Partnerships

• Manage brand partnerships end-to-end: sourcing, outreach, negotiation, contracting, and execution.
• Identify partnership opportunities that align with Needed's mission and grow brand awareness and credibility.
• Coordinate cross-functionally with Creative, Social, and Growth to bring partnership activations to life.
• Manage partner relationships and ensure deliverables — and measurable value — are met on both sides.

Brand Advocacy, Content & Events

• Support brand event production, from brand panels and activations to internal and partner-facing moments.
• Contribute to social media content and editorial content as needed, working closely with the Content team.
• Support creator and influencer gifting in partnership with our Growth team and drive advocacy efforts, helping build authentic relationships that extend Needed's reach.
• Partner closely with Creative on briefs, campaigns, and brand moments that need PR or partnership support.

Measurement & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Help build and maintain a simple brand health view — coverage reach, quality, share of voice, sentiment — to show the VP of Brand Marketing what's working and where to reallocate effort.
• Bring proactive ideas to the VP of Brand Marketing based on competitive landscape and industry trends.
• Track competitor press, partnerships, and events for awareness and to inform evolutions in Needed’s strategy
• Gain cross-functional buy-in from Growth, Content, and Creative on brand initiatives that touch their workstreams.
• Help document and evolve processes and playbooks for PR, partnerships, and brand storytelling as the team scales.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in brand marketing, PR/communications, or partnerships, ideally at a DTC, health, or wellness company.
• Proven experience managing a PR agency and running a communications program day-to-day.
• Track record of building and managing partnerships end-to-end, from outreach to execution.
• Comfort tracking and reporting on brand health metrics — share of voice, sentiment, coverage quality — and using them to make decisions.
• Strong writer with a sharp editorial voice — comfortable drafting press materials, talking points, and brand copy.
• Proactive and trend-aware: you bring ideas to the table rather than waiting for direction.
• Collaborative mindset with experience working closely alongside creative teams.
• Highly organized, able to manage multiple relationships and workstreams in a lean, fast-moving environment.
• Deep curiosity about brand-building and a genuine connection to Needed's mission.

Bonus Points

• Firsthand experience in the wellness or women’s health category.
• Experience producing brand events or activations.
• Familiarity with how brands show up in AI assistants and answer engines (GEO/AEO) — this is a fast-emerging area for the role to help shape.
• Background at a mission-driven or founder-led consumer brand.

What You'll Gain

• The opportunity to help build the brand communications and partnerships function at one of the most trusted brands in women's health.
• A seat at the table in shaping how Needed's brand story reaches the world, working closely with the VP of Brand Marketing and Creative team.
• Support to make meaningful decisions with real, visible impact.
• Collaboration with a passionate, high-performing, and mission-driven team.
• A high-trust, fully remote environment, with biannual offsites to connect IRL.
