Individual ContributorWe are looking for a Computer Scientist 2 to join the App Builder team and help build the next generation of extensibility experiences across Adobe products. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys building cloud-native applications, developer platforms, and scalable integrations that allow customers and internal teams to extend Adobe solutions in powerful, secure, and elegant ways.
As part of the App Builder team, you will contribute to services and frameworks used to create UI extensions, serverless microservices, and event-driven integrations. You will work across front-end and back-end systems, collaborating closely with product management, architecture, partner teams, and fellow engineers to improve developer experience, platform reliability, and product adoption.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, test, and maintain features for the App Builder platform and related developer workflows.
- Develop scalable back-end services, APIs, and runtime components that power extension and integration scenarios.
- Build or contribute to front-end experiences using modern JavaScript frameworks and Adobe design systems.
- Improve developer productivity through tooling, SDKs, templates, automation, and documentation.
- Work on cloud-native application patterns including serverless functions, event-driven systems, and service integrations.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams across Adobe to define extensibility use cases and platform capabilities.
- Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, operational readiness, and quality initiatives.
- Solve complex product and platform issues across distributed systems.
- Contribute to engineering excellence through testing, observability, CI/CD, and operational guidelines.
- Help shape a great developer experience for internal teams, partners, and customers building on Adobe platforms.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4-6 years of software engineering experience building production-quality applications or platform services.
- Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, Python, or Node.js.
- Experience building APIs, services, or microservices in a cloud environment.
- Familiarity with modern front-end development, including component-based UI frameworks.
- Understanding of distributed systems fundamentals, including scalability, resiliency, and debugging.
- Experience with test automation, source control, code review, and CI/CD workflows.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with serverless platforms, event-driven architectures, or API integrations.
- Experience building developer platforms, SDKs, CLIs, or framework-level tooling.
- Familiarity with React, TypeScript, and modern front-end tooling.
- Exposure to Adobe technologies such as App Builder, Adobe I/O Runtime, Adobe I/O Events, Developer Console, or React Spectrum.
- Experience with observability, monitoring, performance tuning, and production support.
- Familiarity with secure application design, authentication, and enterprise integration patterns.
- Experience working in a multi-team platform environment where usability, scale, and reliability all matter.
In this role, success means:
- Shipping high-quality features with strong engineering fundamentals.
- Improving platform reliability, usability, and scalability.
- Reducing developer friction through better tooling and workflows.
- Collaborating effectively across teams to deliver extensibility capabilities customers can adopt with confidence.
- Bringing thoughtful technical judgment, ownership, and steady execution to the team.
You’ll work on a strategic platform that enables extensibility across Adobe products and helps developers build meaningful custom experiences on Adobe infrastructure. This is an opportunity to operate at the intersection of platform engineering, developer experience, cloud services, and product extensibility.
