Java Developer (Regular to Senior) | Backend-focused Full Stack (f/m/d)

Join us and help shape the future of pharmaceutical data!
At Accurids, we're building the data backbone behind life-science innovation. Our system identifies, links and standardizes critical enterprise data in compliance with global standards such as ISO IDMP. We help global life-science companies launch products faster, more safely and with better patient outcomes.
At Accurids, you'll join a collaborative, growth-driven environment where your work makes a real impact from day one.
As a member of our Product Development team, you will work with a high degree of autonomy while collaborating closely with backend and frontend engineers, QA, DevOps and product owners. You will work directly with cross-functional engineering stakeholders, and the features and fixes you deliver reach our customers. Our CTO is directly available to you as a mentor and technical sparring partner.

• Own features end-to-end, backend first: Design and build services, APIs (GraphQL and REST) and the data layer in modern Java and Spring Boot, then take the feature all the way into our React/TypeScript frontend. AI agents write most of the UI code, so your eye for good interfaces is what makes the difference.
• Extend the platform: Build integrations with the systems our pharma customers rely on and extend the platform for customer-specific needs.
• Bring AI into the product: Work on AI features inside the platform, from integrations with AI assistants to LLM-powered capabilities.
• Amplify velocity with AI: Be part of our AI-native engineering culture. You use tools like Cursor, Claude or Gemini to speed up scaffolding, refactoring and test writing, while keeping architectural integrity, security and quality in view. As agents take on more of the routine coding, your role moves up a level. You direct them, help shape the architecture and own the quality of what ships.
• Contribute to the architecture, hands-on: Help develop our modular architecture (Spring Modulith, platform and feature modules), optimize PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch queries and work with RDF semantic data structures.
• Raise the bar on quality: Maintain solid test coverage (JUnit, Testcontainers, Playwright) and give thoughtful merge request reviews, including on AI-generated code.

• Backend experience: 3+ years building backend services in production. Solid knowledge of modern Java (21+) and Spring Boot (Spring Security, Spring Data JPA), PostgreSQL with Flyway and API design with REST and GraphQL. A Computer Science degree, Fachinformatiker training or strong hands-on experience as a career changer are all welcome.
• Eye for good UI: You have a feel for good UI principles and are happy to own the frontend part of a feature. Experience with React and TypeScript is a plus.
• Architectural thinking: You think in modules, boundaries and trade-offs, and you enjoy building what you design.
• AI-native mindset: AI tools like Cursor, Claude and Gemini are part of your daily workflow. You treat AI as an output amplifier and combine curiosity with sound judgment about what ships.
• Quality & delivery: Experience with testing at all levels (unit, integration, E2E) and GitLab CI/CD.
• Location & work permit: You are based in Germany within a reasonable commuting distance to our Cologne office (NRW) and hold a valid German work permit.
• Languages: Business-fluent English is required, and German skills are a strong plus.
• Bonus: DevOps experience (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS), semantic web (RDF, SPARQL, Apache Jena), Elasticsearch, LLM or MCP integration, Material UI, or pharma/life-sciences domains (FHIR, IDMP).

• Grow your expertise: Deepen your specialization in semantic data platforms, AI features or platform architecture as we scale.
• Epic Office & Hybrid Work: Work from our brand-new office in the KölnTurm, featuring breathtaking views over the city (even higher than the view from the Cologne Cathedral!). Enjoy flexible hybrid options. (Note: On-site presence in Cologne/NRW is required, and fully remote work is not offered.)
• Community & Industry Events: Connect and grow your network through exclusive industry events hosted regularly right in our scenic office space.
• Competitive Compensation: Fixed salary package of €60,000 to €100,000 per year, depending on experience, for a full-time, permanent position.
• Work-Life Balance & Perks: 30 days of paid vacation, a personal learning budget, hardware of your choice (Mac, Linux, Windows), and your choice between a subsidized Urban Sports Club membership or a €50/month City Plus Card.
• Empowered Culture: High trust, flat hierarchies and an environment where your decisions directly shape the product.

We encourage you to apply anyway! We know great talent doesn't always follow a checklist, and we care more about your potential, curiosity and motivation to learn.
At Accurids, we're committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We especially encourage women and people from underrepresented backgrounds in tech, science and data to apply.

In life sciences, disconnected data slows down innovation, increases compliance risk, and wastes valuable resources. ACCURIDS exists to fix that. We provide the trusted backbone for regulated data, enabling smarter decisions, efficient actions, and faster time to market. We believe that collaborative implementation of data standards and AI is the key to solve global challenges in patient safety, supply chain and R&D.
