AEO/GEO Specialist

829's AEO Specialists own search strategy for high-profile and enterprise clients across the two places visibility is now decided: rankings in Google's organic results, and inclusion and citation in AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot. You will manage client relationships, set growth strategy, lead the technical, on-page and off-page work that executes it.

AI search is moving faster than the evidence about it, and much of what clients hear comes from vendors. The ideal candidate can design a measurement approach that holds up, tell a client which AI answers page-level work can move and which will change only slowly, and turn research (search and AI trends, competitor and citation analysis, keyword and prompt audits) into a strategy the client's team can act on. You should be fluent in SEO, comfortable across integrated digital marketing, and confident recommending and defending priorities to stakeholders at every level of search knowledge.

What You'll Do

Strategy & Research

• Perform in-depth SEO and AI visibility audits and deliver scalable, prioritized recommendations

• Create and execute custom search strategies for large, enterprise and Fortune 500 brands, covering both organic rankings and AI answer visibility

• Develop content strategy from keyword research, prompt research, competitor review and content and citation gap analysis, including the sub-queries AI assistants run behind a single buyer question

• Identify which competitors and third-party sources AI engines credit in place of the client, including ones that aren't on the client's competitor list, and build plans to close those gaps

Technical & On-Page Execution

• Activate technical and on-page initiatives directly in the CMS backend

• Lead technical SEO for both search and AI retrieval: crawlability and rendering, site speed, structured data, AI crawler access and bot-management rules, and making sure key answers live in the page HTML instead of behind scripts or embeds

• Optimize website content for ranking and citation: answer-first structure, clear entities and definitions, comparison and evaluative formats, and original data worth referencing

Off-Page, Brand & Reputation

• Lead off-page strategy that builds the brand signals AI engines draw from: digital PR, reviews, directories, community platforms and industry publications

• Strategize reputation management efforts, including review management, content suppression, and monitoring how AI assistants describe the brand, then correcting inaccurate or outdated claims at their source

• Manage local and listings strategy for multi-location clients, where listing data feeds both map results and AI answers

Measurement & Reporting

• Define KPIs and design AI visibility measurement for each client: tracked prompt sets, engine coverage, baselines, and mention and citation rates reported alongside organic performance

• Keep reporting honest by comparing like-for-like data, separating AI-sourced traffic in GA4, and labeling what is measured versus inferred

• Use insights and KPI performance to adjust strategy when needed

Client Leadership & Team

• Present and communicate directly with client teams, including executives with varied levels of search knowledge, explaining how AI search affects their business and setting realistic expectations about what can be influenced and how quickly

• Partner with account managers on client communications to develop and deliver a clear strategic vision for each client

• Experience with GA4 and Google Tag Manager, including troubleshooting website tracking and isolating AI referral traffic

• Ability to analyze organic search and AI visibility data to make specific recommendations

• Experience with WordPress, Shopify and other comparable CMSs
