The Position
Senior QA Automation Engineer At Roche Information Solutions (RIS), we now do what patients need next. We are transforming healthcare through digital innovation, building high-scale, cloud-native platforms that support clinicians and patients globally. We are seeking a high-seniority Senior QA Automation Engineer for our Warsaw-based hub who can be co-located, and brings an AI-first mindset to the software development lifecycle. At Roche, we offer a hybrid work model that combines flexibility with in-person collaboration. For now, we require our employees to be in our offices on average two days per week. The specific office days may vary depending on business needs, such as workshops, conferences, town halls, team meetings, and other collaborative events.
The Opportunity
You will work on a cloud-native digital pathology platform that is transforming how pathology laboratories operate worldwide. The system enables pathologists, histotechnicians, and laboratory coordinators to digitize tissue slide specimens, manage clinical cases end-to-end, review high-resolution slide images remotely, run AI-powered algorithms for diagnostic decision support, and seamlessly exchange data with laboratory information systems (LIS) and PACS archives. The vision is to deliver advanced medical insights and drive personalized healthcare by replacing manual, microscope-bound workflows with a connected, software-defined laboratory experience. As a Senior QA Automation Engineer, you will own, build, and evolve the automated test frameworks and quality gates that guarantee the reliability of these clinical workflows - from UI and API test layer strategies to algorithm orchestration and third-party integrations - directly contributing to faster, more confident diagnoses for patients globally. Who you are: The "AI-First" Mindset Beyond technical mastery, we value engineers who treat AI agents as a core partner in their workflow: SDLC Optimization: Using AI tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, or LLMs) to accelerate test script generation, test data synthesis, refactoring, and root-cause analysis of test failures. Agentic Awareness: Understanding how to leverage AI agents to automate routine tasks such as converting specifications into automated test scenarios, test data generation, documentation, and PR descriptions. Efficiency: A proactive approach to using prompt engineering to drive speed, coverage, and quality in production-ready test suites. Technical Skills: Expertise in Java: Deep understanding of Core Java and modern design patterns applied to test automation. Playwright & JUnit 5: Strong hands-on experience with Playwright and solid knowledge of JUnit 5 for both UI and API test automation. Test Architecture & Layering: Proven experience designing maintainable, scalable test frameworks, structuring multimodule suites in Maven, and executing a sound Test Layering Strategy. API Testing: Deep understanding of API test types (contract, functional, integration, smoke) and knowing precisely when to apply each. Code Quality Principles: Sound understanding of coding principles (SOLID, DRY, KISS) and their applicability in test codebases to produce stable, reliable, non-flaky tests. CI/CD & Reporting: Experience integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (ideally GitHub Actions) and leveraging test reporting tools like Allure or comparable frameworks. Tools & Ecosystem: Proficiency with Git, Jira, and Confluence. Experience with Angular, SSO/multitenant authentication, or the broader Atlassian suite is a plus. Skills & Experience: A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in QA automation, including senior ownership of a large test suite. Experience in a regulated domain such as medical imaging, digital pathology, IVD, or clinical diagnostics is preferred. Code Quality: A strong advocate for high-quality code, clean architecture, and testing best practices. Fluent English. Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex, distributed issues and flaky test behavior. Quality Ownership: Capable of taking full ownership of test frameworks and quality strategy, from initial concept to deployment and maintenance. Independence and Autonomy: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and be proactive in a fast-paced, remote environment. Strong Communication: Excellent skills in articulating technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Team Collaboration: A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within a distributed, agile squad. What you get: Monthly salary range 19,075 PLN - 35,425 PLN gross based on the employment contract. Annual bonus payment based on your performance.
