Short Summary:
A Purchasing Manager job is available with The City of Fort Worth Environmental Services Department/Business Services Division. The candidate will manage all aspects of the procurement life-cycle and perform various technical tasks related to the assigned area of responsibility.
Responsibilities:
- Supervises staff, prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; staff training; ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
- Leads the department’s life-cycle procurement functions, including reviewing and delegating procurement requests.
- Facilitates technical assignments such as preparation of bid specifications and execution of purchase orders.
- Solicits bids from vendors; compares costs and evaluates quality and suitability of supplies.
- Prepares communication for procurement-related needs for Mayor and Council.
- Works with the Environmental Services Department to determine purchasing needs and specifications.
Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field.
- Five (5) years of experience in purchasing or contract administration, including one (1) year of supervisory responsibility.
- Preferred: Two (2) years of experience in life-cycle procurement for public or private agencies.
