Senior Business Analytics Analyst

The Senior Business Analytics Analyst will help design, build, and operationalize AI-enabled analytics workflows that transform how Smartly uses business data.

This person will focus on applying AI to recurring analytics processes, including executive metrics reporting, company OKR tracking, customer engagement reporting, and proactive insight generation. The role will partner closely with Business Analytics, Data Platform, Product Analytics, Marketing Science, and business stakeholders to create reliable, scalable, and human-reviewed AI workflows.

The goal is not just to automate reporting. The goal is to help Business Analytics become a decision intelligence function that tells the company what is happening, why it matters, and what to do next.

As a Senior Business Analytics Analyst at Smartly, you will...

Build AI-enabled analytics workflows

• Design and develop AI-assisted workflows for recurring business analytics outputs.
• Create agentic or semi-agentic processes that reduce manual reporting and insight generation.
• Help transform static dashboards and reports into contextual, actionable decision briefs.
• Develop repeatable prompts, logic, templates, and review workflows for AI-generated analysis.

Support priority Business Analytics use cases

Initial priority projects include:

Monthly OKR Tracking

• Support automation of company OKR tracking.
• Help classify metrics by automation type: fully automatable, semi-automatable, or human-input required.
• Build AI-assisted summaries that identify what is on track, at risk, off track, and why.
• Support nudges or reminder workflows for metrics that require human updates.

Customer Engagement Reporting

• Support AI-assisted analysis of customer engagement, health, spend, usage, and lifecycle signals.
• Help turn customer-level data into proactive insights for CS and leadership.
• Use AI-assisted analysis techniques to define and revise customer health scoring
• Support future expansion into aggregated platform-level findings for Platform Partnerships and commercial strategy.

Strengthen analytics infrastructure for AI use cases

• Work with existing BigQuery, Tableau, Redash, and other BI environments.
• Help design structured data tables or intermediate layers that support AI workflows.
• Build and maintain scheduled queries where needed.
• Partner with Data Platform on data quality, migration, and reliability issues.
• Document metric definitions, assumptions, data sources, and known limitations.

Improve quality, consistency, and trust in AI-generated insights

• Build human-in-the-loop review processes for AI-assisted outputs.
• Define quality checks for accuracy, relevance, and business context.
• Create reusable standards for AI-generated analytics narratives.
• Ensure outputs are transparent about data limitations and confidence levels.

Enable a more proactive analytics culture

• Help the team move from reactive reporting to proactive insight generation.
• Identify opportunities to reduce manual work and improve stakeholder experience.
• Partner with analysts to turn dashboards /reports into recommendations and chat interfaces.
• Support team adoption of AI tools, workflows, and best practices.
• Contribute to building Business Analytics as a center of excellence for business metrics and decision intelligence.

We're definitely looking for you if you…

• At least 8 years of experience in business analytics, data analytics, analytics engineering, business intelligence, or a related field.
• Strong SQL skills, ideally including BigQuery.
• Professional experience with Python.
• Experience building dashboards, recurring reporting, or automated analytics workflows.
• Familiarity with BI tools such as Tableau, Redash, Looker, or similar.
• Practical experience using AI tools to improve analysis, reporting, automation, or workflow efficiency.
• Ability to translate business questions into data requirements, analysis plans, and clear outputs.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
