Short Summary:
Primer is the unified infrastructure for global payments, providing finance and payments teams with visibility and control to reduce complexity and improve performance.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a cross-functional team spanning frontend, mobile, and backend.
- Own a defined area of software architecture, ensuring delivery, quality, and technical direction.
- Run an effective development process, including sprint health and incident response.
- Grow engineers through feedback, performance conversations, and stretch assignments.
- Collaborate with product to scope initiatives and prioritize deliverables.
- Stay involved with the team's technical work to contribute to design discussions.
- Define metrics for team systems to explain performance and drive improvements.
- Handle difficult conversations proactively to prevent escalation.
Requirement:
- Experience managing engineers across frontend, mobile, and backend.
- Background as a software engineer with hands-on experience in production systems.
- Proven track record of building effective development processes.
- Technically credible to evaluate design decisions and challenge assumptions.
- Comfortable with operational ownership, including incident management.
- Clear communication with stakeholders and leadership.
- Ability to operate with meaningful autonomy.
- Nice to have: Experience managing full-stack or cross-functional teams, particularly in backend (Python), fintech, or payments.
