Senior Automation Engineer

The client has an installed base of hundreds of scanner systems worldwide. In order to meet up-time contract agreements, the system downtime must be kept to an absolute minimum. The traditional way to diagnose a system failure is to send engineers to a failing machine and let them execute the diagnostics and calibration procedures using a set of procedures and software tools. The client is about to change that way of working by introducing a server on-site that continuously monitors all scanners in a customer domain. The server must detect (upcoming) system failure and identify what corrective actions are needed via a knowledge and procedure database. In the calibration phase, this server will initiate the required service actions on the scanner with correct settings and timings (which is highly configuration dependent)

Responsibilities

• We are looking for a senior QA engineer who can operate with a high degree of autonomy. The person should be able to participate independently in both functional and technical refinement sessions, understand requirements, challenge assumptions when needed, and even help define acceptance criteria. The initial focus will be primarily on manual testing, test design, and test strategy. This includes: *Understanding the business domain and application landscape. *Reviewing and updating existing test cases. *Creating new test scenarios for the upcoming functionality. *Planning and executing functional, end-to-end, and integration testing. *Establishing reliable test coverage for the MVP. One of the main challenges is that the application is highly integrated with multiple systems, including legacy applications, Java-based solutions, and SAP. *Creating and maintaining test data across multiple connected applications. *Working with and validating JSON and XML files. *Understanding complex integrations and data flows between systems. *API testing

Must have

• Has strong manual testing and test design skills. Can actively contribute during functional and technical refinements. Is comfortable defining and challenging acceptance criteria. Has experience with complex integration and end-to-end testing. Is familiar with test data setup across multiple systems. Has strong API testing experience. Is comfortable working with JSON and XML. Has experience with performance testing. Demonstrates strong ownership, initiative, and proactive communication. Has automation experience, while understanding that automation is not the main focus of the role at this stage. Bachelor Degree ISTQB certification
