Short Summary:
Fort Worth Water is hiring Maintenance Workers to support our 24/7 Field Operations Division—repairing, maintaining, and constructing the infrastructure that delivers clean water and collects wastewater across the city. This is a boots-on-the-ground role where you’ll work outdoors, operate tools and equipment, and help maintain pipelines, valves, hydrants, manholes, and more.
Responsibilities:
- Operate a variety of hand tools and power tools to perform construction and repair of water/wastewater mains, manholes, vaults, services, valves, fire hydrants, and meters
- Operate valves on water lines to isolate leaking sections
- Repair leaks or breaks in the distribution or collection system
- Assist in operating wastewater collection equipment to clear obstructions
- Replace and repair manholes and assist in locating sewer and water lines
- Operate light and medium equipment such as trucks, tractors, jackhammers, cement mixers, and other equipment related to maintenance and construction operations
Requirement:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Ability to obtain a TCEQ Class I Wastewater Collection or Water Class D license within one year of hire
- Flexibility to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as required
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation as needed
- Ability to pass a physical examination, drug screening, and background check
